The City of Beaumont (Texas) EMS is adding an additional EMS unit and station

to start May 1, 2000. As such, we are recruiting quality paramedics to

become a part of our team. We have filled all but 3 of the positions at this

time.

Beaumont EMS is a 3rd City service which responds to over 13,000 emergency

calls per year, serving a population of about 150,000 people. Beaumont EMS

offers an excellent working environment for paramedics, including:

" 911 " responses only (no transfers)

Paramedic-only staffing (two paramedics per unit)

24/48 shift schedule (for full-time personnel)

Active bike team for special events

In-house CE and all required training provided, at no cost to the

employee

Progressive protocols and standing orders

Advancement opportunities within the Division

Highly participatory work environment, with opportunities to help

with public education, protocol development and quality improvement, to name

a few.

Starting salary for full-time paramedics is approximately $30,000 per year,

with excellent benefits and over 300 hours of paid time-off per year.

Requirements for paramedic positions include:

Currently certified or licensed by TDH as a paramedic, in good

standing (or obtain reciprocity).

Minimum of two (2) years experience as a paramedic OR graduation from

an Associate's degree EMS program.

Current certification in ACLS, BTLS or PHTLS, and PALS or PPPC (or

obtain within 90 days of hire).

Acceptable driving record.

The application process consists of:

Written exam based upon DOT paramedic course objectives.

Physical agility test.

Skills testing (TDH basic and advanced skills).

Scenario ( " megacode " ) testing.

Oral interview.
