me again! lol. I had 6 Lumbar Sympathetic blocks done not too long ago, the last one towards the middle of May. What they'll do is prep you, somewhat knock you out.....not all the way I guess. I was told that I may hear the doctor talk all the way thru the procedure, but I was to lay still if I did. I didn't hear a thing!! lol, with a 8 hour drive straight there, the block done....I fell alseep and didn't feel a thing! You'll have 2 small incisions above the back of your hip, which may or may not be sore afterwords....if it hurts in that location only...ask the recovery nurse for an ice pack (trust me...it feels great on that spot!). You are not to drive after these blocks, but walking and sitting around is pretty easy to do. In fact, I was told to stop every hour on the way home (we also drove straight back home that 8 hours) and walk around a little bit.

If you do get one major headache, call the doc office and tell them....it may be a spinal headache, which knocked my butt out for 5 days before it went away cause my local docs had no idea what to do for a spinal headache. Considering I have a 2 yr old and a 7 yr old....being out for that long is not a good thing! But, all in all........you should be able to do just about anything except for lifting and driving after the blocks.

One more thing to add to this book, lol. Keep a "diary" of how long the pain relief lasts....and rate the pain relief as like 30% better than before..50% better or whatever it may be. The first one won't last too long probably.....mine lasted 15 hours, but was told that they only usually lasts 8 hours or so...
