Guest guest
Hi Heidi, I can only answer the poop question since I am not ready to try to do the yoghurt. We also have a 2 year old (besides the constipated 10 year old) that I change diapers, so I know what you mean by balls of poop because he has them. If the balls are hard (yes, I do pick them up and check the consistency) then it's constipation. If you don't want to pick them up, you can tell just by compressing them in the diaper and feeling how hard they are through the diaper. Sometimes our two year old has the soft balls and I know it's time to keep an eye on it more carefully and introduce something to soften them up which is usually peeled raw pears or less diluted apple juice(he's not on SCD)or cooked peeled carrots. His constipation is so much easier to resolve than the 10 year old's constipation. I've tried the same things I do to the 2 year old with the 10 year old but it doesn't work for the 10 year old. The 2 year old is unvaccinated while the 10 year old had the full course of vaccines. Maybe that's the difference. Got to go. Hope this helps a bit and someone who is SCD legal has a better answer. Guest guest
Welcome to the list Abigail, On the road to healing people will often swing between periods of d, loose stool and constipation. My son and I did and lots of people have reported this on other lists. Even when we started having trophies (solid regular bm's) occasionally we would go to either loose stool or slightly constipated. But eventually those episodes became less and less until they were gone. Of course if someone gets a stomach virus, flu etc. " all bets are off' but we usually bounce back fairly quickly. Do you mean the warming tray got to hot after you added the starter culture? If that's the case than the bacterial culture is likely dead, depending on high it got. How hot is too hot? If this is the case it is better to start with a fresh batch. BTW, did you do the intro and what is he eating? Sheila, SCD 36 mos, UC 20 yrs mom of SCD 20 mos ----- Hello! Liam has been having little ball poops. I thought this was good because his have always been lose, but reading other peoples posts I started wondering if his is constipated. I gave him a little bit of prune juice yesterday just in case. Dad doesn't think he is though because he had at least five poppy diapers yesterday. He usually has one or two. What do you all think? His stomach seems a bit hard and he was up in the night (which isn't real unusual, the night thing), could this be related? My other question is about yogurt. I bought a yogurt maker at Goodwill yesterday, thanks to the person you recommend trying there, I hadn't thought about it. I got mine for $2.50 and it was still in plastic. I accidentally made to much milk though, so I put some on the stove (I have a warming plate). It didn't work very well, got to hot and then to cold. Can I reheat this and try again? Has anyone else tried that? Thanks for you help, Heidi Mom to Abigail ASD 5yo and Liam ASD 3 yo, all of us are SCD for five days
