Rural/Metro Arlington has announced plans to remain serving Arlington, and in fact, has performed very well in the last few months. The Arlington Fire Department has no plans to take over EMS. Guest guest
Aww, Dr Kocurek, you've gone a ruined a MONTH's worth of great rumors. And who are you to post success stories about a private EMS service like Rural Metro? Don't you care about the citizens of Arlington? I mean, R/M doesn't even use Texas certified/licensed medics, do they? I thought they just hired folks off the street who had at least SEEN an ambulance before... ROFLMAO. And ducking for cover... Guest guest
Aha! Someone agrees with me! That must make it " truth " ! Scary thing is, those folks that have seen an ambulance (and correctly identified it as such) are *still* more qualified than those services who do a two-week introductory training session on " What does an ambulance look like " and " Why you don't have to stop and pull to the right when you hear your *own* siren " Mike Texas EMS-L Rumor List > > > > > >> I hate to interrupt all of these great rumors, and I understand the > >> hesitancy to post facts on this list, but I feel obliged to. > >> Rural/Metro Arlington has announced plans to remain serving Arlington, > >> and in fact, has performed very well in the last few months. Guest guest
I agree with Connie. I have to admit that most of what I read here upsets me. I don't think it is necessary to bash anyone, or any service, to get a valid point across. Guest guest
I agree with brenda.....I worked for r/m for well over a year and granted some of the medics may not be the best at times but no different than with any other private or city based ems system.....my wife is a supervisor with rural metro and I was a lead medic....until i left for more money at a hospital....but that is besides the point....Mike I would suggest you take a chill pill about a company who is damn good and provides excellent service....until maybe you work with them...and get to know more that just mayber one or two of the possibly bad apples that you ran into..... Guest guest
Re: All Rural Metro rumors. I spend lots of time in Tucson (Pima County), AZ, and just about all EMS and fire services outside the Tucson City limits are R/M. I have been greatly impressed with their service and drop into the station about a half mile from our house frequently to visit with their firefighter/medics. However, it is apparent the company is in grave financial trouble. This was pointed out to me in the most disturbing way recently: They have always had a " rattlesnake pickup " service, so you could call them to get the rattlers out of your yard and they would send a special snake unit manned by a Paramedic/Snake Wrangler. They recently announced that due to cutbacks in expenses they were eliminating the snake service. YIKES!!! Now what are we to do when one of the big creepy-crawlies decides to sunbathe next to our pool? Offer him a i? The sky may indeed be falling. Guest guest
Slapping around (verbally) the RM organization and by extension, the employees, is the same as kicking a man when he is down. Bad form, NO style points! One thing I learned long ago, that especially applies to EMS...may my words be sweet, because tomorrow, I might have to eat them. I rode CCTs for RM/SW (Phoenix/Mesa/sdale) as a transport nurse when I was off shift from my flying job. Sure, some people didn't like the job; but hey, those that did the most griping probably wouldn't have been happy anywhere, any way. Their negative attitude made life miserable for those who were trying to make a go of it. Guest guest
Whats the big deal, why do you have to slap around the people that are employed at a private? These people have to make a living too.It may not be the first choice or their true desire ,maybe they are just trying to get a little time under their belt.I worked for a private for five years before I went to work for a municipality.(does that make me any less of a medic,I dont think so)The system I work for now is one of the best in Texas.I have the people I had the pleasure of working with to thank for the experience that I have gained, some of the best and most experianced medics I have ever known still work for privates,(and I have worked in EMS for 13 years.)Please watch what you say as it may come back to haunt you,you never know you may be the one who has no choice but to go work for a private and then you will have to make the best of your situation.People also learn differently not every body is cut out from the same mold. Some people tend to grasp things a little slower and others can watch it once and perform it better than the instructor.Everybody is different!Everybody will run a call different no two medics will perform exactly the same.So dont be so quick to judge your fellow medics for how they perform or what they know, instead try and teach them or help them to be a better medic. Guest guest
Only when it comes to R/M. I know that what is happening is not the fault of the employees, but of management, and the employees are the ones that are caught in the middle. But what has happened is due to poor management and the fact the R/M thinks that it is the ruler of EMS. R/M has left a bad taste in a lot of mouths in Texas over the yrs. It's called humor. I understand your local Rent-a-Center is running a two week special on slightly used senses of humor. I thought the ROFLMAO (Rolling On the Floor Laughing My Arse Off) would have offset a lot of this... For anyone who's still offended, my original post was HUMOROUS. As in, somthing to LAUGH AT. Read it all before you jump and become defensive. We are all in the same profession some are better at than others. We are a rare bred of Medics and we all do the same job, some of us make a primary job of it to support our family and some do it on a vol base but remember why we do the job that we do.( We do it to help the sick, dying, And injuried) so take this how you please .
