Hi

Just thought I would let you all know that Zachary has been doing great on

SCD. Next week, he will have been on the diet for 4 months. When we began SCD,

he was only using 5 word sentences (on his good days), often in a fog where I

couldn't reach him, and he was very rigid. His fine motor skills were awful

and he was scheduled for an evaluation of his OT skills.

Now, he is routinely using 7-8 word sentences and often using complex

sentences of 15 words or more. He is almost always " with it " . I have gotten

reports

from his preschool that he is communicating better, becoming more flexible

and interacting more every week. He has also picked up new skills such as being

able to sort and classify, buttoning his shirt and for the first time, he is

showing an interest in drawing and cutting. He was evaluated for his OT

skills and it was decided that he does not need the therapy. Since we added the

Thropps enzymes at about 5 weeks into the diet, he has had formed stools almost

every day.

On another note, he was sick over the weekend and I felt I had to give him

Children's chewable motrin because his fever was over 104. Since then, he has

had green, watery D and he is not doing as well. This shows me how much the

diet has been helping him. In the past, if he had regressed like this, I would

have been so upset. Now, I know if I keep following the diet, he will be back

on track in a week or so. In the past, I could never connect the changes in

his behavior to what he ate and we were on a constant roller coaster. Now, it

is so clear.

Thanks to all who keep this list going. It is a big commitment and a lot of

work but so appreciated.
