Guest guest
Hi Becky, The honey would have to be checked out to see if it is 100% pure honey or honey that has illegal additives (corn syrup etc.). You would also have to check if it was pure beet powder with no free flow agents. I am also not sure if beet powder would be legal anyway. When the spices are added it will be illegal. Was the assurance from consumer relations in writing or over the phone? Over the phone, internet and/or e-mail assurances don't hold any worth because there is no guarantee that they are accurate. A company's statement is more likely to be trustworthy when they have to put it in writing. Aside from all of this BTVC states, " for those people who cannot get their meat smoked without sugar, ordinary smoked bacon may be eaten once a week if it is fried very crisply " . Sheila, SCD 35 mos UC 20 yrs mom of SCD 20 mos My local Whole Foods just started carrying a new brand of bacon. It's from Organic Valley FAmily of Farms and it is hardwood smoked uncured bacon with no nitrates or nitrites (made with pork raised without antibiotics, and the feed is without pesticides as well). It looks to me that this may well be SCD legal, but wanted to double check with you guys. Here are the ingredients:Organic pork, water, sea salt, organic honey, organic beet powder. Consumer relations from Organic Valley stated everything listed is exactly what is in product,BUT very shortly here " spices " will be added (at this point they have no information of what this will include). So, if this is legal I'll probably be majorily stocking up on the product before the spices become one of the listed ingredients. Thanks Becky returning SCD 1 week after MAJOR constipation issues post 4 weeks on SCD
