Guest guest
both the tropps and the kirkmans are high lipase(fat dissolving enzymes) formulas and the trouble with this is that nerves and myelin sheathing are also fatty tissue so i suspect that lipase enzymes getting across a leaky gut may be attacking the myelin sheathing. the houstonni enzymes are low lipase.............. there is a zyme coming out without papian/bromelin. as i have stated before i don't think the rice bran in the houstonni enzymes is significant from an scd point of view but houstonni either have legal verisons or they are due out very soon. www.houstonni.com > My son Leo has been SCD since Dec, although we didn't do the intro and early stages til right after Christmas. He was doing very well on it in December, and after first starting the early stages, but then suddenly the gains seemed to be lost. He was doing horribly at school too; very aggressive. I was thinking it was the nuts, yogurt, or perhaps a phenol problem. However, looking over my food journal, I began to wonder if the enzymes were possibly a problem. Others had had such success with them that I couldn't wait to try them. Leo had already been on Kirkman's for a long time, while on the GF/CF diet prior to SCD (although I never witnessed any improvements attributable to those enzymes). So, when I recieved the Thropp's enzymes, I disregarded the instruction to start with 1/3 capsule, figuring it didn't apply since we had already been doing enzymes. I gave him a whole enzyme for each meal and snack. Well, I decided to try stopping the enzymes (after stopping yogurt, nut flours, honey, and greatly reducing fruits). That very evening I got a call from Thropp himself asking how the enzymes were working. He said I should definitely NOT be giving a whole capsule each meal. The next day, I reduced it to a third capsule -- Leo was a little better, but still not up to par. I removed the enzymes completely and he is now much better, again showing the greatly improved eye contact, calmness, and conversational abilities we had seen when starting the SCdiet. > > I also read that some can't use the Thropp's due to I think the papaise or bromelaise or something, and maybe Leo is one of those. I will probably test just a small amount of the Thropp's at a later date. In the meantime, I will be looking forward to the Houstonni No- phenol coming out. I understand they also have an enzyme without the papaise/bromelase -- is that correct, and is that legal at this point? > > Thanks, I just don't want others to make the same mistake. I really don't think any of the foods were causing the problems Leo was having, although I will be re-introducing the things I removed very gradually. I guess this another case where the diet alone would be great, and sometimes supplements can obscure how great the diet is! > > > >
Guest guest
Houston Nutraceuticals makes AFP Peptizyde and the website said there will be a new version of H N-Zyme Prime that will not have papain or bromelain in it. The website said these will be available in February. Jody mom to -5.1 and -7.
Guest guest
Does anyone know if Pancreatic enzymes such as Creon-20 are safe?
