Guest guest
Hi LCL, If you can't change your bowel habits with diet, I did see an advertisement for a new drug for " idiopathic " constipation, which is just constipation without a known reason. I have no idea whether it works but if you have to rely on drugs, it might be the way to go.... Pun intended. Kenda > Lynda .. Guest guest
LCL, If you eat enough fiber and drink enough liquids (mostly water, not caffeine for sure) your bowels should regulate themselves. Research a high fiber diet. Be sure to drink that pure water. Lynda At 03:27 PM 4/14/2007, you wrote: >Lynda .. Guest guest
I think that time and the right diet will regulate you without drugs, and we know every drug is another toxin for the body to deal with. I never recommend drugs if there is any alternative. Guest guest
Maritza, I've been taking Garden of Life's Living Calcium for years . . . It's formulated so the body will recognize it as food, rather than a chemical dump. . . . www.appleadayandbeyond.com . .. PHONE your order for an additional discount. However, I recently tried Blue Bonnet High Potency Minerals (with Boron), that seems to be doing really well for me. It has the recommended ratio of two parts Calcium to one part Magnesium - plus a host of other minerals. I have a Magnesium deficiency that causes my feet to burn when my mg levels are low. . . Using the ionic foot baths further depletes ones magnesium . . . IMHO, the benefits are worth it - but one has take additional minerals. . . Blue Bonnet HPM stopped my feet burning very quickly - so I know it's absorbed well. Magnesium kicks in about one hour after taking it . . . lasts for about six hours. So, you may want to take it several times a day if you're having a lot of muscle pain, fibromyalgia, or burning extremities. You can get much more info on Magnesium at www.magnesiumresearchlab.com. Guest guest
Rogene or Lynda, I was just talking to my sister, who is about a month out of alcohol rehab and still sober. She's going to be 50 soon and she said she's been having hot flashes and night sweats for the past few years, but over the course of the past week or so they seem to have gotten worse. I suspect it's because before she was just too drunk to feel all of the symptoms associated with peri-menopause - or maybe her body is cleaning itself out now and that might account for some of it - she's been self-medicating since she was a teenager so her body hasn't been alcohol free for decades. Anyway, she has seen a few doctors and none of them are alarmed, and I told her what she's describing is exactly what I went through when I went through early menopause at 40. I told her I thought that someone mentioned to me that magnesium is good for menopausal symptoms, but I couldn't remember. I know Rogene uses magnesium but I couldn't recall what it helped. Guest guest
Hi Sis, I am in menopause right now, at age 46. I don't know if magnesium is supposed to help menopause symptoms but I can tell you that it does not help me. I saw a doc and got a prescription for a bio-identical cream formulated for me. No more hot flashes or night sweats. Kenda > Rogene or Lynda, > > I was just talking to my sister, who is about a month out of alcohol > rehab and still sober. Guest guest
Sis, I doubt they are hot flashes, I would bet they are flushing episodes. I had those when all the toxins from implants were in my body. I don't have them anymore. They lasted about 2 years. I had a whole bunch of silicone dumped into my chest. Guest guest
Lynda, I don't understand on what medical basis you can say they are not hot flashes. At 50 years old, menopause is certainly very likely. The average age of menopause is between 45 and 55 years old. While it is possible she may have flushing from toxins leaving her body, hot flashes would be no less likely, given her age. Kenda > Sis, > > I doubt they are hot flashes, I would bet they > are flushing episodes. I had those when all the > toxins from implants were in my body. > > I don't have them anymore. Guest guest
Sis . . . I'd suggest seeing a doctor about bio-identical hormones. It doesn't sound like a Magnesium problem, because mg deficiency usually starts out by affecting the extremities. She could try mg though . . . it can't hurt her - and might help with other issues as well. . . Most people who have had an alcohol problem also have some significant nutritional deficiencies because they were getting their calories in alcohol. She may have to look hard to find the right doctor though. I think some posted how to find a knowledgable doctor. I'll see what I can find in my files. Guest guest
Sis, It very well could be hot flashes and menopausal based. She certainly is the right age. Has she had her hormone levels checked?. Perhaps all the years of alcohol are making this particularly difficult for her. Her body is going thru major adjustments still. I'm not much help on this topic, since I went thru sudden menopause with few symptons. Keep waiting to see if it will return as I get better but I doutbt it will. > > LCL, > > > > 20% of the body's magnesium is used by the muscles . . . including > the heart . . . > > > > Magnesium deficiency plays a big role in heart disease . . . check > www.magnesiumresear chlab.com. > > > > Rogene > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Ahhh...imagining that irresistible " new car " smell? > > Check out new cars at Autos. > > >

Guest guest
, I am using a bio-identical cream that was formulated for me and it really works wonders. I've been using it a little less than a week, my new doc formulated it for me. It's amazing how different we all are when it comes to menopause. Mine hasn't been any fun at all and tough to regulate hormones. My menopause has been a crash, rather than a glide. Kenda > Sis, > It very well could be hot flashes and menopausal based. Guest guest
Sis, I am sure that hormone levels could reveal if it is menopausal. It could be that or flushing from toxins in the liver. Being a former alcohol and drug counselor, I can tell you that it is not uncommon in detoxing for people to have a lot of flushing, similar to hot flashes, but longer lasting and miserable. These are from toxins, which is similar to what breast implanted women have had. So, it could be several things, and I think she would be well advised to have her doctor check it out.
