Guest guest
Suzanne, Try another day or so of the intro diet and just add foods back again slowly. For infractions, I always give a big dose of enzymes. Not sure that it makes a whole lot of difference, but it does feel better to do something than to do nothing...LOL. I hope that the extra enzymes break down the " offender " some and at least help prevent some damage. ?? Also, it would be easier if you got rid of the non SCD food. I know your daughter won't like that, but maybe you could offer her something she's been asking for in exchange for removing the illegal food. Guest guest
get rid if the cheerios~ infraction-help!!! I am very upset. My son started the diet a week ago and has been 100% compliant. This morning, he got into a box of cheerios (my dd's) when I was upstairs. I am devastated. I gave him activated charcoal because I didn't know what else to do. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Oh, no! Well, those gut bugs have probably been crying out to be fed some of their old favorite carbs! I don't think there is much you can do except move forward. Obviously, it's a set back but just keep moving toward 100% all the time......and your daughter may have to have a much better hiding place for her goodies or maybe a cabinet with a lock! She knows to keep these things out of his reach and out of sight, doesn't she? It's hard to get used to all these changes for everyone..... but you'll get there. Don't let this get you down..... Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, It is going to depend on Jordan's reaction and previous symtoms. Epsom salt baths may help. Also going back to the intro diet and/or basic foods might help flush the bad stuff out of his system. Then in a day or so gradually readd foods to the point that you were at before cheerios. I am not sure what to do about illegals. If possible get them all out of the house and put everyone on SCD foods. Then at home there will only be legal stuff. If this is not possible, hiding the cheerios or placing them in a pantry with a lock (I know this sounds extreme) might be an option. Some people can tell their kids " don't eat this, it will make you sick " and they won't - but that depends on your child. The same thing happened to my children about a week after starting SCD. They were doing great and just getting through the last of the die-off symptoms. We went to a birthday party for a relative. I brought all my own snacks for them and thought it would be okay. They went downstairs and while I was talking to someone upstairs (ironically about SCD) they gourged two bowls of chips and cheezies between themselves. had explosive D about thirty minutes later and my daughter (with no bowel troubles etc.) had explosive D the next day and on the third day. The upside was they haven't taken food since then without either asking me or just flat out refusing it. Sheila, SCD 35 mos UC 20 yrs mom of SCD 20 mos I am very upset.
