Maybe it will help to get rid of the ads. Let me know. Eunice From another list If you're reading this and have a big full-color ad at the bottom there IS a way to get rid of it if you have internet access (for those without internet access, you're out of luck - it cannot be changed via email). The first step is to make sure that you have a Yahoo! ID and that your email addy is connected to it. If you never go to Yahoogroups or haven't done this, go to http://groups.yahoo.com/memwiz. One you're in Yahoogroups and you can see the list of the lists you're subscribed to (My Groups), click on Email Preferences (near the top). Then click Edit off to the right side of your screen. Under Message Format, choose *Do not convert to HTML. Don't change the format of email sent to me*. This will make all messages - from my groups at least - in plain text and the big ads will be just fairly minor ignorable ads. It would also be a good idea under Group Invitations to check the second option: *Allow group moderators to invite me to their groups.* This will make sure no one adds you to a group without your permission. Guest guest
---I tried following the directions sent to get rid of it but couldn't do it. Not sure what the linking meant. Not computer literate here! I don't want to go to mail sent to home box as I will never be able to have room for all the groups messages that I belong to. I'll put up with it for now and hope it goes away once Christmas is over. Thinking its just a holiday ad and will disappear!!!! As far as off topic stuff, I feel its good to be off topic once in a while, it breaks the frustration I feel many times. It is good to laugh. However, one cannot please all the people all the time or even some of the time. Someone is bound to be offended if something is revelent to their background or current status. I for one am not offended at jokes unless they are really off color and then I don't care for it. So that is my preference. That is certainly not a problem with this group so of no concern here. I do not like to be regimented. I won't stay in a group where I am not allowed to be me. I won't stay where the atmosphere is so strict that I am afraid to move. I don't need that type of group. I am sure there are plenty around that are so strict that one feels totally restricted but that is not for me. This group tries to stay well rounded and that is what life is supposed to be, well rounded. We have a good group here, the people make the group. So we have great people here!!!!! Guest guest
I think if you get the messages in digest form or only read them on- line you will still get the ads. They are showing up in my group as well and others I belong to also. I guess Yahoo needs more $$$ to keep going. It is distracting but, considering the group is free, we have to make due. Guest guest
Hi Ric, I spoke too quickly. Just went to to another list I read web only. There they were big as life - advertisements. Eunice
Guest guest
I see the Walmart ads too. They are to the right of each message. Yahoo Groups must have changed their website recently. The ads started appearing several days ago. Carol Warman - Las Vegas, NV __________________________________________________________ > Madge mentioned the WalMart ad. Guest guest
OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I see what you're talking about now!!! I receive my posts via Individual Mail so I don't see those ads you're all talking about. I just came here to the Web Site to read the messages and " there they are! " If you read your messages from the web site, you get those ads, if you receive Individual Mail, you don't. How about all of you who are on Daily Digest? What are you seeing? Ads or No Ads?
