Guest guest
Carol, We never truly started with the intro diet. I jumped in head first while waiting on my book to arrive. Hannah would not eat anything and before I truly understood the diet I made her the almond bread (with out eggs due to IgG reading). This is all she would eat and I was afraid to take that from her. However, we saw great results, such as formed stools greatly improved behaviors, emerging speech...However, then we started TTFD/glutathione/b-12 and her stools got worse and eventually allwe had gained in speech went away. SO, then I started getting her to eat green beans, chicken breast and ripe banana. We did this along with some natural antifungal/antiyeast...and very quickly started geting firm stools. I had moved away from almond flour and started pecan flour. We got her down to bread(pecan flour) for just one meal a day(breakfast) and the rest was chicken, banana, veal, green beans. Oops, she was also getting one to twp pecan flour cookies a day as well. Anyway, since she started eating more htings I finally got away from the nut flours all together for a few days. So, when I said what I said about the intro diet, I meant it's best to try to follow it from the start instead of strating with things you will have to take away later anyway. I see the wisdom in no nut flours early on, etc. (Am I making any since at all?) The further away from nut flour we got and the closer to stage one foods we got, the better everything has been. One of the main reasons we did not follow the intro diet was becasue of the IgG reading on eggs, hre unwillingness to eat chicken at the time, AND our Dr. specifically told us to stay away from ALL fruit except pears and NO honey. S, inthe beginning I was so overwhelmed and thought eggs would hurt her. Letr I decide to try eggs and found that they did not hurt her (thank goodness!!), so we have slowly back tracked trying to do the diet the right way and hold off on nut flours until later! One other note, we also did not want to add the yogurt due to her great improvement when we first removed all casein from her diet. However, I am nearing the point of wanting to give the goat yogurt a try. I'm sure you'll see soe questions from me soon! Hope I have answered your question. Guest guest
Yes Carol, I did not mean to imply that, I'm not too good at typing up something when I am excited! :-) Basically all I was trying to get across to all those nervous parents is to try and follow the stages of the diet and they might not have to back track like we did..and to let them know there really can be a light at the end of the tunnel for those picky eaters. Hope I didn't confuse anyone! We LOVE SCD!!!!! > > > Carol, > > > > So, when I said what I said about the intro diet, I meant it's best > > to try to follow it from the start instead of strating with things > > you will have to take away later anyway. > > >
Guest guest
Thanks Brandee and a reminder to all that " The Stages " on Pecan Bread, the web site, are not mandatory and never appeared in BTVC or on Elaine's site so one is not required to follow them. They were created by one of our moms as a guide for those who need a little prompting as they proceed to add foods. I believe them to be very helpful, useful and well organized and so have many parents as long as it's understood that they are not mandatory. Once the intro diet is over one can proceed carefully and gradually introducing new foods and preparing them according to instructions. Carol F.
