First I want to apologize if some of you get this more than once...I know some of us are on more than 1 list.

My endo informed me that she is being investigated by the state board for using human growth hormone in adults and Armour thyroid. Another endo told the board that Armour thyroid was not "standard of care". I don't know yet what the complaint was about her using HGH in adults. I know that she said that she took a gentleman who had been in an auto accident and was expected to be a vegetable, and treated him with HGH over a period of time, and now he is well enough to go back to being a productive individual. I volunteered myself and my husband (who are both being treated by her with Armour) to stand up for her if necessary. Would any of you who are now on Armour, and who have been through $inthoid or not, be willing to write a letter to the board if it might help? I will know more about this in a few days. I don't know if letters to the board will help or not, (especially since you're not her patients) but it sounds like someone is trying to get between us and our Armour...that's fighting words for me!!

She is an awesome Doctor and the most caring physician I have even known.

Maybe it's really because shes not properly certified. What ever it

is just dump her as she's lying to you. You'd think a doc could

come up with something that didn't sound so dumb.

Jan,

Thanks for the heads-up about the Kansas Thyroid Group...I hadn't thought to look for one.

No, I don't have any documentation on what she's being investigated for. She does seem to try some controversial therapies (Geez...she does Armour, which alot of docs oppose) with success. I found out about this from an email she sent her patients that are set up on her email list. She explained that she was being investigated by the State Board, and for what, and asked if any of her patients would be willing to speak on her behalf. I have a 6 month follow-up appointment on June 14th and will find out more then if I haven't heard from her again before then. It might only be a "fishing expedition" for now, but it just burns me to the core to see anyone trying to stop a Doctor who actually cares, from doing good for their patients...actually healing people. My husband a year ago wasn't able to work at all (he has been an over-the-road trucker for many years) and after seeing her and getting Armour and Testosterone therapy he is happily back to trucking and working on his houses that he rehabs. In his eyes she is awesome!

I will post more on this as soon as I know more about it.

They can only shoot her down if she is using it for an off-label purpose such as weight loss. (One of the charges they used against Dr. Derry in Canada, was that he prescribed it for a lady with asthma. Well, I happen to know that it helps greatly with my night breathing problems that were originally diagnosed as asthma.) I don't know much about HGH, but I do know that Houston endo Ridha Arem uses it. I also see it marketed to docs on websites that are aimed at docs. Do you have some kind of documentation for what she is being charged with? I think we would be able to make a more appropriate response if we had those documents in front of us. Is it perhaps on the website of your state board of medical examiners? Or can you get electronic copies of anything directly from her? The AZ board went after Dr. Dommissee because of his alternative orientation, but what they nailed him on was poor documentation, failure to run TSH tests and failure to do physical exams. A lot of this stuff is politically motivated, and I don't think they are likely to pay much attention to thyroid patients. These boards go on fishing expeditions when they want to nail someone. The charges they end up with do not always resemble the charges they started the process with. But nonetheless, I think we should give it our best shot. You may also want to post this information on the Kansas thyroid support site. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Kansas_Thyroid_Groups/ jan in tx>

Again, thank you Jan for your words of wisdom. This Doctor is first a chemist. She said she went to med school at 36 to become a doctor and then got interested in the hormone end of things and it went from there. Her website is at http://www.drspringer.medem.com/ if anyone would like to see more. Her "Curriculum Vitae" link is quite interesting. There is also some good links to articles about hormones at the bottom of the main page.

Good alternative docs get skewered by the establishment and dragged before boards because of their non-conformity, not because they did anything wrong. Like I said in my other post on this subject, these board actions are very often of political motivation when they involve an alternative physician. Furthermore, I find your undocumented comments to be disconcerting. If you have some facts to present about this doctor, I am sure we would all like to hear them. The original poster states that this doc was helpful to her. An endo who is board qualified, but not board certified, can still practice as an endo in most states. Board certification is expensive and time consuming. It does not necessarily guarantee that this person will be a better doc. Most docs come out of medical school, internship and residency with an enormous burden of debt. They often cannot afford to take even more time off from making their living to get board certified.
