Guest guest
Hi all, I have a question that is a little off topic, but I hope some of you will take the time to email me privately if you have information that can help me. My 3 year old has UC. We have been doing SCD since mid October and she is doing very well. She was diagnosed after colonoscopy/endoscopy. We have had routine blood tests and parasite tests. My question is this: What testing have any of you done or would you recommend. I am thinking of tests from Great Smokies Labs or Great Plains labs or others that I might not know about. I have the opportunity to spend some money for medical testing by end of January. Just a quick explanation so you understand what I mean...my husbands company is switching insurance providers in Feb and due to the type of insurance we currently have, we have an allotment of $ that we can spend if we choose to before the transfer. I figure there isn't any reason to let the $ go to waste and I am trying to determine if there are some tests that could give me additional information about her condition and health. Thanks. Sherrie Mom to Ilana age 3 UC June 03 SCD 11 weeks.
Guest guest
Hi, Ilana, I didn't see your direct e-mail address. Does your daughter have autism? A lot of people get an Organic Acids Test done. There is a provoked Urine Toxic Metals test. Jill has specialized testing; we got that done though Alan Goldblatt of Marvin Boris's office, Long Island, NY; they could also recommend other tests. There is blood and urinary amino acids; plasma cysteine; metallathionine (sp?) to see copper/zinc ratios...... Teri PS BTW I'm getting something herbal made up for colitis. It's an alternative to the pharmaceutical and did better in a clinical trial and has fewer side effects than Rx. E-mail me if you want to know where to get more info. I am an adult with CD, but it is mostly in my descending colon and I would be interested in this herbal remedy too. Please email me if you have the time.
