I received disability the first time I applied by keeping track of

everything. I could not complete my job duties anymore because I have

degenerative disc disease, spinal fusion three levels, sacral iliac syndrome

from an auto accident.

The Social Security doctors look at if you can stand, sit, or complete job

duties for an eight hour day, I could not anymore. I have to lie down also and

I have sleep problems as you do.

Your doctors willingness to complete the forms is also a big factor, Christy. I

agree with Bennie. I also got on disability my first try. Someone in this group

or another pain group sent me an email about how to get on disability.

It stated that to make sure your doctor documents your restrictions, such as how

long you can stand, how many pounds you can lift, etc.

Also some sort of depression and anxiety always comes with chronic pain, so make

sure you have a Psychiatrist document such things as how you get along with

co-workers, how many breaks you must take, because of your anxiety.

Basically I'm saying the same things Bennie said but I am saying to have your

doctor document these also. The doctor will probably not document restrictions

or other things a disability adjudicator will make his/her determination on

unless you ask them to do it.

And you have a better chance with a chronic pain diagnosis and a mental illness

diagnosis together.
