Shirley Re: Shirley/Armour Armour is the traditional medication for Thyroid treatment. Synthroid isa synthetic hormone that has only come to be in our lifetimes. See, it'sman made and patented and they can sell it for more money. So even thoughArmour as worked forever every one wants to prescribe the synthetics tobe able to make more money.Natural Thyroid contains T4 (the storage or precursor hormone), T3 (theactive hormone), T2 (believed to play a large part in metabolism, T1 (Inot yet heard it's function, and Calcitonin (helps to pull calcium out ofthe blood and put it into the bones, preventing osteoporosis.Synthroid contains T4.Which sounds better to you?If you are on a T4 only meds. Your body has to make everything else fromthe T4. It does this by pulling an iodine molecule off.T3 is a T4 that has had one iodine removed. T2 has two removed.Calcitonin.. if your thyroid isn't making it.. you're SOL.If you are a poor converter, your body can't make enough of the T3 foryour body to function correctly... forget about the others.Which sounds better?T4 takes weeks to build up in the tissues enough for the body to be ableto start converting. So you still feel like crap until there is enough inyou for you body to even start working..... Naturals, they have T3 in them. So. Your body starts building up the T4in the tissues.. still takes weeks.. but in the mean time you are gettingthe other T's in your meds to allow your body to get going NOW. As the T4builds up and your body starts converting.. it's going to add to the T3that you are taking in the meds. Then you feel even better....Get the gist?Which is better? For us... the Naturals... for the docs andpharmaceutical companies... the synthetics.Hmmmmmmm Now.. why do I believe all of this? I was on synthetics for 10years.. and got sicker and sicker and sicker every year. I've been onNaturals for only 18 months and feel better than I have for 16 years! Iam still healing. My body suffered a LOT of damage. But I am healing.... Will I go back to synthetic T4 only? What???? You think I'm STUPID? (dont' get me wrong... for some T4 worksfine... for others, they've not had the opportunity to try naturals...none of you are stupid. But for someone that has experienced a profoundimprovement on Naturals after the misery they experienced on T4 only...it's stupid to go back)Topper () *quietly sliding soap box into closet and heading to grabmy first mini-meal of the day*On Mon, 19 Jan 2004 05:44:21 -0000 "mnicolehaupt" writes:> You know, recently, I've started NOTICING the posts more about Armour > (I am sure there were a lot before, but I guess my alertness is up to > it because I am looking for alternatives...)
