Guest guest
Papillary is common, and is slow-growing. I'm not aware of his protocol for putting you on thyroid me, then taking you off. Oh, yes, someone help me here because I have not had this done, but isn't it that you can take Cytomel (T3) temporarily, while off the T4, before having to have the RAI again? Tx More info. > He said it is papillary cancer. I am scheduled to go back in and > remove the rest of the thyroid on April 29. Guest guest
Sounds like he wants to remove as much as possible... then shrink as much as possible with meds, assuming it's a large dose.. then destroy what remains of the thyroid with the RAI... Keep us posted, okay? Topper () On Wed, 14 Apr 2004 23:11:27 -0000 " poohtrooper1976 " writes: > He said it is papillary cancer. Guest guest
It was my understanding that dosing with T4 is done to drop TSH and thyroid production, to reduce size of the nodules... then when the RAI is done there is less mass and less of a shock to the system because they are already adjusting to outside hormone source. And, hopefully T4 reserves are in place before the RAI. That's why the 4 to 6 weeks treatment window... for building T4 reserves... I may be off... any body more on top of this ???? Guest guest
He did say it was Cytomel that he was putting me on, but would be taking me off everything before the RAI - then after, synthroid. > Papillary is common, and is slow-growing.
