I began Zachary on goat yogurt a week ago and I just wanted to report that he

is doing well with it.

He had some old behaviors including tantruming, lots of tears, hyperactivity

and lots of rigidity for the first 5 days. He also seemed less able to

communicate with me for the first couple of days and began soaking the bed

multiple

times at night again. I decided to sweat it out and gave him some epsom salt

baths on days 4 and 5 and this seems to have helped him. To my relief, he is

acting pretty much back to normal the last couple of days. He has also started

building with his Tinker Toys which is something he has not been able or

willing to do before.

He is a kid that has not had a strong reaction to casein in the past. We

believe gluten is our biggest problem and that casein might be a problem. The

one other time I tried to add casein back to his diet (9 months ago with cow

products and prior to SCD), I never noticed an immediate reaction, but over time

I felt he was less and less " with it " and he developed pretty severe

constipation.

So, only time will tell for us, but so far I am encouraged and hopeful that

the goat products will remain a part of his diet. As long as I feel he is

continuing to make gains and not falling back into a brain fog, we will keep the

yogurt in his diet.

We are using enzymes and I am only giving about 1 spoonful of yogurt with

each meal at this point.

Thought those of you thinking about trying the yogurt would be interested in

hearing about our experience.
