He wasn't real supportive and he acted as if I was being a hypochondriac, and we never discussed " what if I want them removed " , and after I got implants I felt like he was in charge of my body and it made me angry. I was waiting for his permission to have them removed, and finally I took the bull by the horns and scheduled my explant. We're very happy now and I think we both learned alot from the experience, but it was a hard time for us. That's when I realized that nobody else had any right to tell me what to do with my body, and I got the implants based on some comments my husband made rather than thinking it through. I was worried about immune system problems before I got the implants and I wanted to cancel before I had the surgery, and I didn't cancel because I was concerned about what my husband would say, and for God's sake I was even concerned about what the doctor would think!! I don't like it and I get very frustrated with myself, but every day is a learning experience for me. I have learned to take life at a slower pace and rest when I need to. It does get very frustrating to have my calf hurt one minute than my shoulders and my hands later. Talk about a very difficult balancing act! Our bodies are so intricate, so amazing, aren't they? I'll never mess with mine again! It was too perfectly tuned before! Glad that helped put things a little more in perspective, though I remain just as confused as everyone else on so much of our implant madness. Guest guest Posted February 20, 2007 Report Share Posted February 20, 2007 I think we can be pretty sure the PS made an incision through the breast and capsule, popped the implant out, then sewed her up. She had the "new safe" cohesive gels.. . . They should come out in one piece, without spilling. My concern is that the doctor doesn't keep his OR clean . . . that the implants were contaminanted during the implant procedure . . .that the bacteria has been growing and spreading throughout her body. I had capsular contraction at three weeks. . . So I know there can be a capsule. . . It may be thin, it may be delicate, but there should be one. The capsule can help protect the body from bacteria if it's thick enough. But, once the implants are removed and contaminated capsules are left behind, they will contract and squeeze the remaining gunk into the body - especially when drains are not used. I could be wrong . . . but IMHO, Gretchen's symptoms don't fit with an allergy to silicone alone. There is something else going on. I think the PS is responsible.
