Guest guest
D I just want to reassure you that everyone does not have this type of reaction. I had my explant in July and other than some antibiotics and some diahrea....I was fine. I was driving in three days. Actually even with some healing issues with my surgical lines I felt great! Still do (although I would like to loose about 10 pounds)! > Gretchen, > > Have you called your plastic surgeon? Guest guest
--no, I had my explant one month ago, and my recovery was fine. I am still very ill from all of it, but have the relief of not having burning in the implants, I can't even tell I ever had them, my breasts feel normal again. I have all the leftover symptoms of toxic poisoning, but I try very hard to keep a positive outlook. I know I am going to get better, and with the implants I think I had no chance as my body was not only fighting the implants but probably a subclinical infection as well. For me, the removal was the best step in healing. Just my experience and hope this helps. Nan - In , d kellar <kellar_d@...> wrote: > > Gosh! Guest guest
-D, I had alot of relief right after my explant. I got my memory back and felt great right after explant, I had my implants 20 years. And was leaking on the left and had capsular contracture on the left for 18 years so just getting rid of the brain fog and getting my memory back was great. I had some reoccuring sysmptoms due to residule capsule being left in but that was then removed 6 months ago. I didn't do alot of detoxing because of my situation either, I have been getting better since my second removal. Everyone is different but you can get better after explant and most people that have become sick from implants only get worse if they don't remove them. Guest guest
Gretchen, Please remember most of us don't have a full recovery. I am one year post explant and I still suffer daily from muscle pain, stiffness, and weakness. I have bad fibro-fog in the evenings, or whenever I get tired. I tire very easy. I must manage my daily activities very strickly I have to watch my diet closely and take my suppliments, if I don't I feel horrible. However, I was very close to a wheelchair up to explant, I couldn't drive, walk down the basement steps to do laundry, write, or even type more then a few sentences. My husband at times had to take me to the bathroom. So in one year I can "go" myself, do my grocery shopping, and do every thing I used to do, except work the job I had before I started getting sick. I didn't really start to see any improvement for 6 months, although my hubby noticed the 'small inprovements' before I could. I was too wrapped up in my pain and the other mental and emotional challenges to notice. This has been a long recovery, but I had to decide to not panic anymore, and take charge of my recovery. The first thing, and the best thing I did for myself was sought out counseling at church, to help me deal with the feelings I had inside, which included worry, frustration, guilt, embarrasement, fear, and many more. Take heart Sweet Gretchen, in time you will start to have 'small inprovements' that will most likely be noticed by your family first, but they will be there helping you get stronger and stronger. Guest guest
le, I think it is one of the worst symptoms we deal with--this memory loss and cognitive dysfunction-- and the manufacturers and the FDA treat it like it was no big deal. It is mentioned as a possible side effect, which should scare the living daylights out of any normal person, but it's just like "Oh, and by the way, if you get breast implants, you might experience memory loss, along with the other risks...." I couldn't believe it when I got this sick. I couldn't believe that it was mentioned as a possible symptom, but nobody was freaking out about it and saying, "This is INSANE! What the h*ll are we doing to women's brains??" I always had a wonderful memory too...was a smart cookie and had a fantastic ability for recall, but once I got sick from implants, that was just gone. Out the window, vanished. Instead I felt like my head was stuffed with cottonballs and goo, and I could hardly put together coherent thoughts quickly anymore. I said the wrong words all the time. I could hardly read with comprehension at times, and would read the same paragraphs over and over again before anything finally stuck. Many women talk about having gotten lost on the way home while driving, or forgetting that they were cooking and burning foods (I did that alot). One time in the shower I couldn't even remember if I had used the shampoo yet, or if I should put on the conditioner next. I simply couldn't remember if I had washed my hair or not in the space of less than a few minutes! It's criminal what they are getting away with... Guest guest
-le, I have kind of all over shakes, sort of a very frazzled feeling that acts up but then goes away with a lot of rest. I have had a passed out feeling many times, it is called a light coma, I looked it up on the net. It is usually at the beginnning of an episode, which I get a full blown relapse about once a month and then it takes me a week to recover. I can hear people but am really passed out. Nothing I can do but stay in bed until it passes. What I think happened to me is that my body rejected the implants and I had a subclinical infection for a long time, sort of initiated a CFS , and I probably need a detox program and then to rebuild my immune system. I am just not functional, had to quit working, very strange because I was very active and handled a lot. If I had left the implants in, I am convinced I would have ended up with something horrendous. At this point, I have a bad case of CFS which I can get better from. But it is truly miserable and just makes me sick to think women do not know this can happen. What are your symptoms and who is your dr? Love Nan -- In , d kellar <kellar_d@...> wrote: > > Hi Nan. I was womdering, did you ever have shakes? Hands shakes, passing out? Guest guest
- Nan, When I had to quit working almost three years ago it was because I was dizzy and almost passing out everyday at work. I would be working and a wave of passing out would come over me. I could hear people asking me if I was ok and I would try to shake it off and not pass out. I would leave by ambulance. Even if I was sitting down I would get the passing out feeling. I don't have that anymore. It was awful. I was afraid to drive of course!! Guest guest
Gretchen, You will not be sick for the rest of your life. You will get better. Dr. Kolb is fantastic, by what I have read and heard from the ladies on this site. Relax. It is soo hard to be patient. Believe me when I say patience is not one of my strong virtues. It is hard to wait for help but the best thing you could do for yourself is rest, breathe, think positively and become as strong as you can before a possible next surgery. You will get better because you are a strong, beautiful, young woman with a lot of strength. Tap into that strength, sweet Gretchen. You will be better. You have lots of support but don't forget how special you are and that you can make a difference in your health by thinking strong loving thoughts. Your in our thoughts. --- foxygretchy <gretchenc@...> wrote: > i feel so scared that since i am still sick and if > ps left something > in me, am i still going to get better? i need you > guys. kolb said im > too sick to fly so i am on the diflucan. she said > come this friday > for consult and possible surgery next week or come > monday and surgery > wednesday. it feels like next wednesday is a > lifetime if i am getting > sicker by the day. please give me some hope you > guys. all i can do is > kick myself for going to my ps and am scared ill be > ill for life > because of it. > > > > > > > Gretchen, > > > > > > > > > > Have you called your plastic surgeon? Guest guest
How do you forgive yourself and think positive? It was a few weeks ago I was standing at work where I was just promoted to Manager - calling doctors and getting MRI's and asking doctors IS IT MY IMPLANTS? Everyone said no so I kept searching. My gut knew it from the beginning. Now 2 surgeries later I am sicker. Mad at myself for not pushing in the beginning or going to see Kolb before anyone else - I could have been better by now because then all I had was the dizzy spell and tingling hands. Since then (almost 2 months post implant) I have bad dull joint pain and memory loss and dizziness and fog spells and I am very scared. Waiting another week seems like so much time lost to me when I knew from the beginning. Please pray for me. I need to think positive and I do not know how. > > > > > Gretchen, > > > > > > > > > > Have you called your plastic surgeon? Guest guest
Gretchen, If you had kept your implants in, you would be one sick puppy right now, and getting sicker with no hope in sight. I know it's hard to feel worse after getting them out, especially when you had them fgor such a short time, but believe me, NOBODY gets better when they keep them in, and many women who do have more serious complications down the line. So you're doing the right thing! Bindi Re: Gretchen How do you forgive yourself and think positive?
