I've been taught all my life that when you are sick you go to the doc and they are suppose to figure out what's making you that way. I am leaning more toward self medication everyday. I went to my endo appointment today. I was so disappointed!! Before I explain what happened I would like to hear your opinions on my previous labs. I know my General doc shouldn't have moved my dosages around so much. Do you think this is playing a role in to why I feel so bad?(Extreme fatigue, muscle pain & weakness and of course all the other thyroid symptoms including heart palpitations) When I say extreme I do mean extreme! I can't even keep up with what is expected from me. I do not work at this time simply because I can't. My family is lucky to get a load of clean laundry outta me. Cooking is a huge chore for me and afterwards I am just exhausted. My muscles stay sore and tense 24/7. I always feel as though it's the day after a weight workout when I hadn't exercised in a while. Anyway take a look at my labs. I'm interested in hearing your opinions on them especially since my endo suggested today maybe it was rheumatoid arthritis<sp?>.<I don't think so> I've included my earlier readings just so you can see how far I was off to begin with. The normal lab ranges are: TSH .350 - 5.500 t4 free - .61 - 1.76 thyroid peroxidase 0- 34 5-7-03 ( I was on 100mcg of levoxly) TSH - 12.23 T4 - .86 TPO - 1781 6-17-03 (Swithed me to Synthroid 175mcg & added 5mcg of Cytomel) TSH - 10.41 T4 - 1.11 TPO - 1762 (This is when he told me I had Hashi's) 7-24-03 (moved down to Synthroid 125 mcg) TSH - .327 T4 - .11 T3 - 142 8-26-03 (moved up to 150mcg) 9-02-03 (moved to 137mcg for 2 wks then back up to 150mcg) TSH- .145 T4 - 11.8 12-12-03(moved to 150mcg during the week and 137mcg on weekends, Cytomel 5mcg) TSH .172 T4 - 1.67 Triiodothyronine, free, serum 3.8 1-22-04 Current dose>>(Doc switched meds to 137mcg & 5mcg of Cytomel) Thanks for taking the time! -Dana ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
Guest guest
Hi Dana, Bouncing you around like that.. with adjustments so close together sure isn't helping.... Your most recent labs are showing your T4 is still unacceptably low.. confirmed by the crappy way that you feel, and he reduced your dose? IMHO he's not really go a clue about what is going on... When are you due to go in for your next labs? Can you get him to check the Free T3 so we can get a clearer picture about what is going on? Right now we aren't seeing everything we need to see to help you figure out what needs adjusting.... Let's see what we can do about this puzzle...... Guest guest
I had a thyroid panel done today but I don't remember seeing free T3 on it. It's so frustrating the endo I am now seeing doesn't seem to know that much more from my general practioner. -Dana -- When in doubt blame it on arthritis?!?! Guest guest
Yes, as Topper said, and the Free T3 looks like it was done at some point in the middle (no reference range), but not in the beginning and then never again! I like the idea of the Cytomel, at least, but this doctor seems to not know that you need to stay on one dose of everything for at least 6 wks, before driving it up in small increments! You won't know where the final stance of a particular steady dose is until you've been on it for at least that long. This doctor is very undecided on how to handle your levels and dosages. It does still sound like you are very hypo, but it's hard to know where you stand with this "bouncing" doc. Tx When in doubt blame it on arthritis?!?!
