Haven't been in the group in sometime now. Diagnoised with cancer

about four years ago. My PSA continues to climb, and was cleared by

my Cardiologist today for surgery due to other health problems, like

A-Fib, dietbetics, and some lesser problems.I had the stress test and

the inside of my heart is fine and with no palpatations, Or Antrial

fibulation at this time. I do not want this surgery but don't know

what else to do. I read everything you can get your hands on and I

have decided to go ahead and have the surgery as my Urologist says I

am curable. My question to him was my quality of life after surgery.

He has done over 300 de'vinci operations and he is the director of

Urology at the University of Alabama Medical Center, here in

Birmingham. This is a teaching hospital and in the top ten in the

nation. I told him that don't mean s..t to me. Just keep me alive.

You had better not let a resident even toach me. He just laughted.

My daughter works there and she is in Radiology, and she is going to

be there watching.

Got a call from a friend that had the pellets, and radiation done in

Atlanta Ga. This was about fifteen years ago, but it has returned.

Now he is taking Lupron shots, or whatever. His has spread but he

still works each day and is not hurting.

I have been in denial regarding my cancer but don't know what else to

do as my Doctor says I am " CURABLE " at this stage. I will probably

have to wait about four weeks as they are that far behind 13

Urologist work at this hospital. I will have another PSA done before

surgery; and if it is like the other 8.4 I will have time to chicken

out. It started out at 2.2, but when it went to 4.2 that is when I

found out about the cancer cell.

I asked the Dr. what is the cause of prostate cancer. He said

Genectics, but we really don't know. Why can't you kill the cancer?

In some patients we can, some we can't.

He is in charge of clinical research at UAB. Each patient that sees

him he takes blood samples, and there is a team of Dr's, and chemist

that works on research. He thinks eventually medication (not Oral)

with continued research will eleminate this nbr 2 killer in men.
