Hi Leisa,Do you mean blood test for Serum ACTH & 8am Cortisol or an actual ACTH Stim? For either you need to be off anything that affects ACTH or Cortisol for at least two weeks before. That includes any glandulars, Aces, Isocort etc that have Cortisol in them.ACTH Stim requires an injection of synthetic ACTH (Doc usually needs to order this in). Before the injection have sample taken for Serum ACTH & Cortisol baseline to be measured. Then need samples at 30 mins & 60 mins for Cortisol measurement.VERY important that Serum ACTH is measured in baseline sample to correctly interpret results. Many Docs dont do this.Needs to be done as early in am as possible & completed by 10am at very latest. Test should be done sitting not lying down. Need to be overnight fasting & no meds & supps until after test complete. The ACTH Stim must be

supervised by a Doc. Often is done in Hospital or Lab setting. May be done in Docs office but not many Docs will do that.Lethal Lee---------------------------------------------------------------> > > > Subject: Re: Need to switch to cytomel>

Usually oyu would need an Endo to do that test. And even there they may have to order in the synthetic ACTH to do the injection. Some Endos thta do them more often may have it at their offices. It is not a tewt most regualr doctors will do.
