Guest guest
Hello group... just a few lines to let you know how are we doing. Ignacio is doing great with his band... the rash is completely gone (although his skin has remained really dry and coarse). We have gotten some good correction, specially in the back, but one band just won't do it. During his last appointment the ortho discuss with me the possibility of getting a second band since this one will only fit him for a couple of weeks (I don't think it will last for three weeks more). So tomorrow we have our follow up appointment and second casting session. I just hope the casting process goes as smoothly as the first one (he fell asleep halfway through the process; guess he thought he was getting a spa treatment...lol). I guess we have at least two more months to go of treatment and travelling but, looking it on the bright side, we are halfway through this journey and we are seeing the results. We haven't heard from our insurance company since they told us they would refund part of the treatment but we have to evidentiate that we have paid for the whole treatment. So, since we are paying tomorrow the remaining balance of band #1, I guess next week I will start my battle with the insurance company. Our insurance is BC/BS but since we live in PR and there is no treatment offered here for plagio I guess this will be a whole new experience for them also. Concerning the possibility that has plagio... my husband and I have studied his head form a million times and we see some signs of plagio, but we think they are really mild. To give you guys a picture, the back of his head is completely round but the top part of the back has a spot that seems to be flat; also his left side is not as round as the right side but the difference is not big. Finally, we don't notice facial assymetry as Ignacio had. Concerning the flat part of his head... I have the same flat spot and my maternal gradfather had it to, so I don't know if we are dealing with plagio or just genetics. I think is more genetic than plago because the part of his head that lays flat everywhere is really round and bald. On a final point, dh and I are ok with his head shape so we are really inclined on not getting treatment for him. Anyway, we plan to take with us when Ignacio graduates to have him evaluated; the down side is that he will be, at least, ten months old. Well, I'll keep you guys posted. Finally, congratulations to all babies that have graduated and Mathew (the front star) is just a cutie... I loved his helmet. Guest guest
Hi Annie, Great to hear from you. I am glad to hear that Ignacio is correcting so nicely in his band. I am sorry that you need to go with a second band, because of all the traveling involved. You have a great attitude about it though. The glass is half full!! I would probably be dragging myself to the airport every other week right about now complaing the whole way!! As far as goes, you and your husband do know best. A parents instincts are rarely wrong. If you feel it is very mild (or just a genentic spot), it probably is. Please keep us posted on Ignacio and . They are so cute!! > Hello group... just a few lines to let you know how are we doing. > Ignacio is doing great with his band... the rash is completely gone > (although his skin has remained really dry and coarse). Guest guest
Annie, keep the wonderful updates coming!! I look forward to them! I have my fingers crossed Ignacio tolerates the second casting well. Let us know how the insurance is coming. I'm thinking you should have no problems since there is not a treating facility in your area. Guest guest
Ana, It's good to hear from you. I'm so happy Ignacio is making progress. We had to get a second band too. We're still driving up to Charlotte. I really don't know how you handle all of those flights - ugh! As for 's flat spot ... I was talking to my ortho about that. She told me that all folks and especially babies have a flat spot in the back, middle, top of the head - does that makes sense. It gets smaller with age. The reason we were discussing is because as na has gotten rounder it's been harder to see progress. She told me not to pay any attention to this area because it was normal. So, that being said let us know what your ortho says when they evaluate him. Good luck, mom to na DOC 1 10-27 to 11-16 DOC 2 12-10 @ 6 months South Carolina > Hello group... just a few lines to let you know how are we doing. > Ignacio is doing great with his band... the rash is completely gone > (although his skin has remained really dry and coarse).
