Guest guest
Hi! I too took my son o to CIRS Palo Alto. I think $2800 is the price they quote to everyone. on also has a 15mm asymmetry and our orthotist Amy said he should see very good correction and she quoted 3 months. on was 4.5 month at the time. I think she may be on the optimistic side but I'd be happy to see anything >50%, especially when we are having such a hard time repo'ing him at night. Best luck! Maybe we will run into each other at some appointment. Cheryl/on, to be starbanded. --- In Plagiocephaly , " durga8 " <holycowgal@s...> wrote: > Hi! Sorry I have been MIA for a while. Guest guest
Sorry to hear about all your recent medical problems! Just what you need, huh? I'm sorry, I don't remember--how old is Rowan? From what I've heard 15mm borders on the upper side of moderate. My ortho said 15 and up was severe. Anyway, I am surprised that your ortho said you would only get about 50% correction. If your baby is on the younger side, I would definitely think you have a great chance in getting it within normal measurements(under 5mm). For some it takes 2 helmets though. I'm not too sure on STARband prices, but it sounds like it would be within a reasonable range (DOCbands are $3,000). I have heard other people who got patterns/colors that have come out distorted or discolored (red being pink or orange for example). Also, you could definitely appeal your insurance decision to try and get it paid in full. Guest guest
Hi, I just want to second everything has said. You should see more then 50% correction. My baby was a little over 11 months when she was banded and she received 90+% correction. > > Hi! Sorry I have been MIA for a while. Guest guest
Wow, they say trouble comes in threes and it sounds like you are proof of that. Hope you are feeling better! How old is Rowan? His age and therefore his growth will affect the amount of correction he receives. To quote Dustie, I hate using the numbers and percentages for the amount of correction because it is so subjective. What exactly is 50% correction? I cannot tell you what percent correction my son received, but I can tell you that it is 100% better than if I had done nothing! There are no guarantees on the treatment, but if Rowan does grow, and his STARband fits, then he will receive correction! As for the designs/graphics, I went with the plain white band and decorated it. I knew we would have ours for Halloween, Christmas, etc, and wanted to be able to use fun stickers. I also did not want to worry about coordinating the clothes and colors in the band. My orthotist was very enthusiastic about the grpahics, but did warn me that the colors were a bit off of the examples, the direction of the prints may be different (example, vertical in a picture, horizontal in real life, etc.) They also offer a plain blue one that may be the best of both worlds. As for the cost, it was cheaper in MI, but they may have to do with the cost of living. I think most everything costs less here, including how much you get paid. LOL My son's band did not make him any crankier than normal. He cut half of his teeth with the band, suffered through two bouts of pneumonia and learned to walk with it. It did not affect his mood at all. Good luck! - mom to Aidan STARgrad 2/4/04 GR MI --- In Plagiocephaly , " durga8 " <holycowgal@s...> wrote: > Hi! Sorry I have been MIA for a while.
