Guest guest
, You are right - successful nighttime repo can be key to getting results from repo! We were fortunate enough that Remy started to sleep on her sides on her own at about 5 months. On the nights when she wanted to roll on her back, I would sleep with her, both of us on our sides, to keep her off of her back. Sometimes my husband would sleep in the LayZboy all night holding Remy in his opposite arm to keep her off of the flat spot. I don't think we got any good sleep for months trying to ensure that Remy was off her flat area at night! I think we have one member who ordered and tried the safeTsleep, but I can't remember off-hand. Maybe Risa? I think this member did not have good success with the product. I'll put safeTsleep in the subject line to hopefully snag someone's attentions. It's a product from New Zealand, so delivery may take a few weeks, I'm not sure. They conducted a study on their product. I have the study in the LINKS section, REPOSITIONING folder, but I'll also copy and paste it here: Study: The Safe-T-Sleep Device: Safety and Efficacy in Maintaining Infant Sleeping Position (pub Sep. 2003) The device maintained the selected body position in 94% of recorded observations and head position in 87%. It is now being advocated in our clinic as an aid to active counter-positioning strategies to passively correct incipient or established positional plagiocephaly in younger babies. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi? cmd=Retrieve & db=PubMed & list_uids=14581964 & dopt=Abstract So how is repo going otherwise? Have you seen good results in the last two months? I hope so! Please keep us updated! Guest guest
Thanks for replying so quickly Christie! I have a feeling that since he has already started rolling, the sleep positioner may not be the best course of action. My biggest concern is that it may frustrate him if he's restricted and can't move around (he's all over the crib at night...mostly on his back, but sometimes his side). I'll keep an eye out for additional posts regarding the SafeTsleep product. started sleeping through the night around 2 months, so if it means sleepless nights now for Mom and Dad to ensure his progress, that's what we will do! His head was initially brachy, but with no facial or ear displacement. The left side of his head has already rounded a bit! I can see a difference between the first set of pictures I took in November and those taken last week, so I'm hopeful we will be able to remain on track. Thanks again for replying! I'll keep you updated ! Kel --- In Plagiocephaly , " redlocks2003 " <redlocks@d...> wrote: > , > > You are right - successful nighttime repo can be key to getting > results from repo! Guest guest
Kel, Have you tried attaching the sleep positioner to his pjs? What I mean is pin, velcro, glue, or sew a rolled up blanket/towel/foam roll, etc to the shoulder of the side you don't want him to lie on. Of course if you are dealing with Brachy this may not be as useful. However, if you alternated the shoulder on his different PJs then you oculd keep him flat off his back and rolled to one side. Alternating the shoulders means you won't always go to the same side and cause a problem there. Have you posted any of the pics. I would love to see your progress. & na DOC #1 10-27 to 11-26 DOC #2 12-10 @ 6 months > > From: " kpdazzle " <kpdazzle@...> > Date: 2004/01/19 Mon PM 02:36:06 EST > Plagiocephaly > Subject: Re: Repo advice needed/SafeTSleep > > Thanks for replying so quickly Christie!
