Guest guest
Are you saying yuck to eating the chard, turnip greens & kale fresh? Because they taste a lot different if you cook them in a meat & vegetable soup. My MIL is Portuguese & makes soups with these all the time. Maybe you could tolerate them that way. > > OK now cross off the goitrogens on that list as I don't eat them. AND > YUCK Chard, turnip greens and Kale.. and spinach.. Guest guest
Val, I wouldn't worry too much over the test results. Type 1 is very rare after the age of 20. You would have become very ill also with ketoacidosis if this was Type 1, you would have felt like you had a very bad flu at the least and you would have been dropping weight very quickly out of the blue. You would have been so thirsty that you would not have been able to drink enough even though you were drinking all day long and you would have been waking up several times in the middle of the night to drink large amounts and then having to go to the bathroom about every 10 minutes!! Type 1 is a an acute onset, you can't walk around with it for a long time, just doesn't happen, it makes you violently ill in a very short time when the symptoms start showing up. Type 1 is not like other autoimmune diseases in that if you have one of the others it makes you more prone to Type 1. Although If you have Type 1 it makes you more prone to certain other autoimmune diseases. The amount of insulin you are needing could easily have to do with insulin resistance and many other factors. You may end up with a positive on the antibodies that distinguish Type 1 1/2, there is one particular antibody for that, and that would lend toward having to stay on insulin. Linn > >>Wonderful! What do you put this lovely reading down to Val?<< > > Starvation and copious amounts of Insulin yesterday..~ LOL I ended up > with taking 80 u yesterday and am prescribed 35... Guest guest
I just joined that group based on your earlier posts about candida. Another online friend suggested this as a possibility for what ails me...maddening brain fog. And ICers often have difficulties with yeast issues. The diet looks good and I like the way they have you work into it. Tried doing the Yeast Connection diet all at one and it was too much for my pee brain to handle. Guest guest
Have you tried the McCann's Steel Cut Oats instead? It has a lower glycemic index than the processed oatmeal. No added ingredients either. It's just whole oats, cut up. Takes a little longer to cook - 30 minutes - but it's worth it. You can make double or triple batches & refrigerate/freeze it too for quick morning meals. I put stevia & cinnamon in it. If you can tolerate nuts, you could add some walnuts or almonds. I like raisins or dates too, but those probably have too much sugar for you. > > Well supposedly I can eta 1600 calories a day with insulin, but I sure > haven't seen that yet. No where near it.
