Guest guest
Hi all, I won't be able to ask the orthotist today about this because he's out of town (travels to surrounding cities) so who better to ask then you all! The other day when I took Jaxson's helmet off to give him a bath we noticed his head was BRIGHT red, across his whole forehead (that is a good sign perhaps that his head is growing?). After his bath it was still the same so I kept it off for a little while. I was in limbo on if I should keep it off because he's had to have it off so much while he was sick so I put it back on. Yesterday it was still pretty red and now this morning I got him dressed and noticed that the front of his forhead appears as though it's peeling, rubbing some skin away. Is there anything I can do for this? Do I need to keep his helmet off again or does this sometimes happen?? Any advice is deeply appreciated!!! Thanks in advance! Guest guest
Hi Kim, If it's that red and not fading, I'd leave it off. Isn't there anyone who covers for your orthotist? If it's just dry skin Aquaphor works great, but if it's more rashy you can try hydrocortizone cream. We were able to use the cream and put Hannah's band back on over it (it was not a red spot though, just an irritation from the band rubbing the back of her neck). Towards the end when Hannah started growing out of her band she'd get a red forehead b/c the band was too tight. Let us know what happens. , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad Cape Cod, Ma --- In Plagiocephaly , " kasaint_2 " <kasaint_2@y...> wrote: > Hi all, > I won't be able to ask the orthotist today about this because he's > out of town (travels to surrounding cities) so who better to ask then > you all! > The other day when I took Jaxson's helmet off to give him a bath we > noticed his head was BRIGHT red, across his whole forehead (that is a > good sign perhaps that his head is growing?). Guest guest
Peeling skin does not sound good....If it looks really raw and irritated, you could try some neosporin, but I would leave the helmet off until you can see or at least talk to your orthotist. If it's a heat rash (little red bump, but no peeling), you can try some hydrocortizone cream). It's better to keep him out of it for now then to have him wear it and have it turn into a big sore that will take a longer time to heal.... Good Luck! /DOC/10-7-03 @10mos./PAkasaint_2 <kasaint_2@...> wrote: Hi all, I won't be able to ask the orthotist today about this because he's out of town (travels to surrounding cities) so who better to ask then you all! Guest guest
Hi Kim - WE had this happen also and we used hydrocortisone cream on the area during the hour off and it really helped. How is Jaxson's tummy problems doing? Getting better I hope.
