Hi Amy,

It sounds like Brady could need a small adjustment in that area. The long period of time lying on that part of the head would certainly cause some redness, but it should be fading...Let everyone know what the orthotist says about an adjustment.

Around 7:30 yesterday evening, I took the band off and there was a red spot above his ear. (he's a brachy baby, so his head is bumped out on each side above his ear) Anyway, it didn't go away within an hour, so I put Brady to bed without it. I checked him a couple of times, and it was still there (but fading) after 3 1/2 hours when I went to bed. Since it is gone this morning, do you think I should put his band back on and just watch it? I'm going to call the clinic, but they don't usually return calls until the evening. We were in the car a lot yesterday, and he sleeps in the car, so I'm hoping that it was caused by the way his head was resting in the car. Thanks, -AmyFor more plagio info

Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me what the red spots are that I keep reading about in the articles? Are they permanent? How are they removed and what causes them?

Hi ,

Red spots are temporary. They are usually happen either because a

band has a bad fit or it needs to be adjusted. Once the band/helmet

is adjusted it ususally isn't a problem anymore.

Tris,

No, that is not normal. Any red mark that lasts more than an hour

needs to be addressed. Colin's band needs to be adjusted before you

put it back on him again. It is very common in the beginning of

treatment to need an adjustment or a few. Call your ortho and tell

him/her what is going on. Keep us posted.
