My husband had the exact thing happen..muscle pain and weakness. We went back

to doc. that had called this in for him without even telling us his

cholestrol level. My hubby had always had good cholestrol level.

Asked the doc. if he had that high a level that he needed statins at his age!

Doc.waved his hand and said oh leave that off....I think he saw I was ready

to leap on him,lol.

pushing drugs for the Pharm company??

My husband does not need cholestrol meds..makes me wonder how many drugs are

being pushed on us we do not need!!

I have been trying to get my sis to drop the statins for a couple years

now.I have never seen such a change in a personality.Statins do that also!

, that's funny that your husband is so committed to his

statins. My hubby had a horrible reaction to Lipitor. His muscles

were so sore within about 48 hours of his first dose that he

couldn't move. He quit taking it, and it resolved right away.

Thank you . He has three brother and all have high cholesterol and I

believe all are taking statins. My hubby is convinced because this runs in his

family, that he MUST take these drugs.

I have forwarded several links to him. Will send him this one as well as plead

with him to try some alternative treatments. He watches what he eats very

carefully (accept for the occasional dessert) and exercises, so at least he's

doing something.

Thanks again.

I think I would just start doing like we do on HC and slowly back off the

Lipitor.Start taking every other day and working his way off it.

He needs to stay pretty much off Mayo and things that make us have

cholestrol problems.

I make my Mayo at home with olive oil..easy enough.

I do not believe a few eggs a week hurt anyone. It is the transfats in ev

erything store bought that hurt us.

Here is another good site about statins. The url takes you to the web page

about it.I thought it was interesting about the Vit.C.I didn't know that, lol

See we all can learn from each other.

Good luck to both of you.

What is most horrifying about this problem is that cholesterol balance can

be achieved without drugs, simply and safely by taking 2000-3000 milligrams of

vitamin C per day for an adult. Unfortunately, vitamin C was misclassified as

a micronutrient in the 1930s and 1940s, rather than an essential nutrient

involved in dozens of body processes. Our health authorities recommend that we

take only 60 milligrams per day, barely enough to prevent scurvy.

Ladies...a wonderful thing has happened...from all your hard work finding

links for me, my husband has agreed that he needs to get off Lipitor!!! You've

practically given me a new husband and I am so grateful!!! Thank you for

keeping and placing all this good information directly at our fingertips. I

never thought he'd listen, but reading all those links did it!

I am now going to ask if any of you have information about how to stop

taking Lipitor...I've searched, but most of what comes up on Google is driven

by

big pharma and I don't trust it.

I never have bought the garbage about eggs being bad for you. I've

eaten eggs basically every day of my life for the last 30 years and

my cholesterol is normal. I remember reading somewhere that the key

is to drink lots of water to help your cholesterol, which I've also

done all my life. Most of us drink different things but we don't

drink nearly enough water.

Could you send me your recipe for home made mayo? I'd love to make our own.

We both keep pretty clear of cholestorol in our diets although I use string

cheese as a pick-me-up. We eat mostly chicken, turkey and fish and lots of

fresh veggies. He IS a peanut butter hound though. Even the natural stuff we

use isn't good for him. But he's so good in every other area...exercise too.

We talked a bit when he got home today about him taking a saliva test. I think

this would show he's hypoT.

For now it will be gradual weaning off Lipitor, adding Vitamin C, niacin and

asprin. We can wait a couple months then have his cholesterol checked. From

what I've ready courtesy of all of you here, familial problems with cholesterol

are effectively treated this way.

Agreed. And everything I've read says you have to drink lots of water in

addition to niacin, vitamin C, ect. to keep your cholesterol low.

Have him cut out any type of margarine also. Margarine causes heart

disease. It is one of the worst things you can put in your body.

I've heard that the yolk (only soft boiled or sunny side up) has mega-nutrients

in it. Once it's hardened, it becomes far less nutritious.

He doesn't use any margerine or butter. Even eats the rare baked potato plain

and when he eats the occasional English Muffin, he uses jelly. What a guy!!! :)

Well that explains it. I know tons of farmers in

Nebraska who eat a big breakfast including eggs. Most

of them eat them sunny side up or soft boiled, and

they live forever. I cannot stand soft eggs though,

they have to be hard enough to bounce off the wall or

I will gag when I eat them lol. Something about the

taste just grosses me out. But those farmers sure do

live a lonnnnng time on them.

Have to wonder. Who was the first person to see an egg

come out of a chicken's behind and say to themselves,

" Hmmm I bet that would be good to eat! "

(Old joke, not mine, but fitting!) hehehe
