Guest guest
>>(1) Is adrenal insuffiency the same thing as 's? If I have all the symptoms of 's EXCEPT hyperpigmentation, including low aldosterone, how can this be 's? (I'm stage 5 of adrenal fatigue, according to this group's definition.)<< NO. IN ;'s you have NO cortisol production of your own. In adrenal fatigue you have some but not enoguh and certainyl no reserve for times when you need more. >>(2) I took synthroid (112 mcg) for one month, then switched to Naturethroid (1 grain). I think I've been having several adrenal crises since then. I'm on 25 mg of hydrocortisone daily, and it's helping, but not totally. << You may need even more HC than that. SOme folks do and some alos need Florinef with it. The healthy adrenals make 40-60MG of cortisol daily (according to Peatfield) and in times of stress can make up to 200MG a day! So you would not be at full replacement till you were at 40MG and even then you may not be absorbing it well. No this is not gonna be the rest of your life! You do need to take enough HC and/or HC & Florinef to support your adrenals well and slowly build your thyroid dose up once you get the adrenals well supported, then in 6-8 weeks after that you should be able to start slowly reducing the HC. Getting the thyroid optimal while on the HC is paramount to your adrenals being able to heal and function normally again. You also need to reduce as much stress in your life as possible, cut exercise to very light only and sleep regular hours. In bed by 10PM and sleep in as much as you can. Sea salt may well help you as wil viotamin C and the B vitamins. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Or is it keeping my life low-stress enough that my adrenals heal? Or both? (By the way, I ordered Peatfield's book. I can't wait for it to arrive.) >> You may need even more HC than that. Okay, so if I'm at one grain of naturethroid and 25 mg of cortisol, and still having some low blood pressure and hypoglycemia, I should slowly keep increasing the hc until these symptoms are stable before adding even more thyroid? If so, what would happen if I added more thyroid at how I'm feeling now? Would I have another thyroid storm in a few days? Don't want one of those ever, ever again! :-) I'm sorry if I'm being repetitive. Do you ever get tired of answering everyone's questions? You are such a huge blessing to everyone. I hope you realize that! :-) ~Anne
Guest guest
You bring up a very good point that I have also been dealing with in the last week or so. I have increased my HC slightly 5mg from 2.5, and added a wee bit of T4. I feel fine, but mostly calm, not really tired but not the energy I should. From what I understand HC (cortisol) uses up more Thyroid hormones, so it is an essential balance we must keep in order not be hypo nor hyper. When I added Armour without HC I had serious hyper symptoms, when I take HC without Armour I have serious hypo symptoms. Val has given some wonderful explanations on this, I think I'm finally getting it. I will try Armour 1/4 grain and then follow with HC shortly their after, hopefully this will be just right. I will let you know.... Blessings, Duane > > >> NO. IN ;'s you have NO cortisol production of your own.
