My son had mild plagio as well, and had his last big growth at 7 months (right before we got our helmet.) As for sleeping and napping with a helmet, most people report that their babies have little to no problems adjusting. My son is not a good sleeper and his helmet has not changed that. He sleeps no worse than he did before the helmet, but darn, no better either! When are you going to be getting the band casted? I urge you to get it as soon as possible. Time is the most precious thing and growth tends to slow down after the 7th and 8th months. If the band fits well it shouldn't interfere with his sleeping, it never bothered our son. She started it at 8 months old and had NO problem adjusting to it at all. In fact, Mike, her orthotist said he never had a problem with babies adjusting to the helmets. The price of the helmet was about $1,400.00 and it only took one week after casting to get the helmet. Do you now who you are going to be seeing over at Loma ? They are all great. If you want to see the helmets look like, there are pictures of Makenna in the plagio baby folder. I think there are even pics of the casting still. The casting was quick and very painless, ofcourse she was a bit peeved at having the bandage wrapped around her head :-). The only time he ever got cranky or had a hard time sleeping was when he was too hot and was sweating. I just dressed him cooler and he was fine. Makenna is a beauty and seems totally adjusted to her helmet in her pictures. It did break my heart to see her during the casting though. I have to admit, I'm dreading that process with Ian. How long did she have to wear the helmet? I'm calling them again tomorrow since I didn't hear back today. I just want to get this whole process going asap. The nurse who helped us yesterday said all I had to do was call and they would get us in quickly b/c of his age. I left a message today and will try again tomorrow, first thing in the morning. I see has already been contacted and you are on your way to a rounder noggin for Ian. I will tell you that my daughter was a GREAT sleeper as well and her banding treatment didn't effect her one bit.
