Hi This has caught my interest because I have hepatitis C and I would guess detoxification problems. And yet I don't recall having any problems with hc. What sort of problems specifically are you having? Thanks. Mo NOVA Counselling & Healing Services Quote

Guest guest Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 : What do you mean by poor sulfation? -- Intolerance to H/C Hi all, just wondering if anyone here has an intolerance to H/C and what they have done to overcome it. I have poor sulfation issues (due to being mercury poisoned) which means that I can't metabolise H/C properly. As a result I react stongly to even small doses, get lots of side effects, and have very poor clearance from my body. Having said that I'm also suffering from adrenal fatigue, and could really do with h/c. Is anyone else out there in the same boat? . Quote
Guest guest Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Sorry I should have defined it. Sulfation is the phase-II liver pathway which deals with the metabolism/breakdown of steroids - in particular cortisol. . " C. Mannelli, Ed.D. Guest guest Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 > So if you have sulfation probnlems then you are saying you cannot > metabolize and breakdown steroid hormones? Yes basically. Steroid metabolism is messed up, so despite having adrenal fatigue its not just a simple matter of supplementing h/c. I need to correct my sulfation issues first before I can start supping h/c. > Hi > This has caught my interest because I have hepatitis C and I would > guess detoxification problems. So I suspect that you don't have sulfation issues (though you may have other liver issues). I don't know anything about Hep C and sulfation - I do know that it is affected by mercury poisoning, which is what I have. > What sort of problems specifically are you having? The specific problems I have are in aberrant steroid metabolism. Small doses of h/c affect me in big ways. I get many side effects (read the package insert for the side effects of steroids) at very low doses - e.g. 2.5mg. The h/c stays in my system a lot longer than its supposed to (24 hours +), where as in a normal person h/c is metabolised within 3-4 hours. Prednisolone stays in my system for days. So basically: 1. Low doses affect me strongly 2. Get side effects at low doses 3. Steroid stays in system for days rather than hours . Quote

Guest guest Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Hmmm...this is interesting. Who figured this out & how? Is there a simple blood test? I'm curious, because when I took synthroid, I went immediately hyper on it & it stayed in my system for 3 months after I stopped it, even though I was symptomatic after two weeks. Also, an integrative MD told me I have a problem metabolising estrogen in the liver, even though my estrogen is not high. Told me to take CDG EstroDIM for that. Is your situation only relevant to steroids? I guess since you have adrenal fatigue that it doesn't work the same way for your own cortisol? (Sorry if that's a dumb question...I have no idea how cortisol really works in the body with respect to the liver.) > > Its a specific phase-II liver pathway known as sulfation. Guest guest Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 My doc told me your thyroid stores enough T4 for 3 months so maybe you charged up your thyroid with the Synthroid. If anyone knows a web source for T4 without scrip, can you email it to me personally? Thanks. -- Re: Intolerance to H/C Hmmm...this is interesting. Who figured this out & how? Guest guest Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Here's a link with contents & info... http://www.vitaminusa.com/cdges60taorm.html Honestly, I have no idea if it works or not. The integrative MD I was seeing for a very brief time before I moved said that her patients who used it saw the results in their bloodwork, but if they went off of it, it went back to the same situation of poor liver metabolism of estrogen. Guest guest Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Val, This is a really wondeful idea, I have a similar issue regarding absorption, and have an RX for HC that I want to take but was having issues within staying in my system too long and not absorbing, the cream works great and last just a few hours. I will probably see if I can get topical HC cream from my ND instead of the capsules to bypass the liver...... > > What oyu might try is tiny but regular amounts of 1% HC cream,.
