Guest guest Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 I never had neck pain with high blood pressure. And my BP is good right now so it isn't from that now. Guest guest Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 >>and have you ever heard of this as a symptom of hypertension plus the frequent urination (anyone?) as I am really surprised by this as I have never heard of it before.<< No I haven't heard of this and I would have to think it would depend on why your BP was high to begin with. If it is high due to fluid retention, yup could cue frequent urination, if it is high due to stress it might cause neck pain from STRESS rather than the BP. Well I have a bit of fluid retention. The beck pain i have been putting down to FM getting worse again rather than stress but it seemed indicate of something when I woke in the middle of the night with severe neck pain and only then took my BP and it was the highest it has ever been, and that is with me not being particularly stressed. i had forgotten my last dose of h.c so I thought, as I had a pulse of early 90, that this was the reason for the neck pain, the my thyroid levels had dropped and then I came the link I posted which gave frequent urination and neck pain as symptoms. My Lyme started out as a neck pain that almost seemed like a sore neck from exercising. I had it as part of FM (well I made that assumption because it went, the last pain of the FM to go about a month on h.c and Armour). Then it came back couple of months ago when I was overmedicated with hyper.hypo symptoms and I put this neck pain down to the hypo side of hyper if you see what I mean? Then the other night I forgot to take my last dose of h.c (which I am reducing right now) and lying in bed watching late night television, I became to feel a bit peculiar. Still not remembering about the missed dose, I took my BP which was very high and my pulse was low 90s. Penny still did not drop until the next morning. O woke in the night with really bad neck pain, much worse than I jave ever known it. When I took my BP in the morning is was 200/99 and then 199/101 which was seriously scary. I then thought, because by then I had realised I had missed my last h.c dose of the night before, that this was low thyroid from missing the h.c. Thought I had a grip on understanding what had happened and then read that neck pain can be a sympton of hypertension and then I began to wonder if it had been hypertension that has been causing it all along and that is why the pain got bad with my BP went through the roof night before last. Got such a fright that I am now taking thge BP meds my doctor prescribed ages ago! Mo Mo NOVA Counselling & Healing Services Quote

Elyse I am beginning to think the neck pain was not part of the FM at all now. I think this because if the FM was coming back it would most likely come baclk everywhere and just the neck. I do have problems with a tight jaw sometimes, tension? and I kind of grind my bottom front teeth against the top ones on one side. Is that TMJ? Are you tense when it happens or does it just happen all the time for you Elyse? thanks. Mo NOVA Counselling & Healing Services Quote

It took me two years to get off Prozac! Have you talked to your doctor or looked into it yourself, the reasons for the fluid retention and frequent urination. I found it pointed to insulin resistance and now, more recently, that is also applies to hypertension. Have you had your blood sugar checked recently? Mo NOVA Counselling & Healing Services Quote

Guest guest Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Mo, I'm struggling with neck pain. I've recently been trying to eliminate anything that could possibly cause tension there. I found out that my migraine medicine actually has a neck pain side effect! This was causing a vicious cycle of neck pain and more migraines. The beginning of my neck pain was 3 years ago when I took a drug called Wellbutrin. It caused serious pain for me(my stupid doctor prescribed it for depression, libido, and weight loss when he should have tested my thyroid). Until recently, I used large doses of caffeine to improve my ability to focus, now I know that hurts me too. I just tried splitting my Armour into 3 doses just in case that might cause a stimulating effect on my neck, I'm not sure yet if it's helping. My blood pressure has always been pretty low, so I don't think that's an issue with me. Fluid retention is major problem, though, as is frequent urination; so maybe there is a connection there. Guest guest Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 “Neck Pain” - something I’ve dealt with for 20 years. I think we both have a lot in common. I had a very small car accident which caused a minor whiplash...so they say and has created tremendous pain over the years in the back of my neck. It is so hard to believe that a little thrust of the neck could cause so much pain. Perhaps I had adrenal fatigue at that time which causes poor healing. Also, I've read that Lyme settles in injured areas of the body. I went to a chinese doctor for all my symptoms and he said that I had Lyme and prescribed me chinese herbs that didn’t do anything for me. I spend $1000 and was dedicated to getting better. He said that many times, Lyme cannot be detected in a blood test. I had this test and he was right but who’s to say that I had it to begin with. Never remember gettting a rash. I’ve had to see chiropractors weekly just to manage the pain. The adjustments never could hold and after reading the symptoms of adrenal fatigue on Dr. Rinds site, I think I finally found the answer. Poor connective tissue and inability to hold adjustments are symptoms of weak adrenals. I began on Icosort 2.5 weeks ago as my first line of defense and it seems as though my neck pain has decreased. It’s too soon to tell but what also helped my neck pain was to see an ART® Practitioner. They generally are chiropractors who use this technique to remove scar tissue and entrapped nerves. It really helped substantially, but it took 5 months. There is a book about how Lyme can wreak havoc on women's hormones. --- " C. Mannelli, Ed.D. Guest guest Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Mo, Actualy, my BP is definitely higher recently since starting Armour and getting all this fluid retention. (This is one of my new symptoms that I've acquired since starting Armour, I'm up to six grains and still can't get enough). Anyway, my BP used to be real low, and now it's more like low average. Also, my glucose was normal. I'm seeing my new doctor tomorrow so I'll ask about BP, fluid retention, frequent urination, and neck pain. Someone mentioned neck pain being and adrenal issue, and I'm leaning toward that. I'm on 30 mg of HC, but still having other adrenal symptoms like unstable temps and terrible sweating. (I can't get dressed for an hour after a bath because it makes me sweat so much. (Sorry that's gross!) Lynn S. > > > Hi > And even with fluid retention your BP is not gone higher? Guest guest Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Elyse - could you be low in Vitamin D? I was having all-over joint pain, but especially in the upper body - hips, back, shoulders, neck. It was especially excruciating in my lower left back and hips. My back felt like someone was jabbing a short, hot knife in it. I could not get in a car without my husband lifting my legs in. Hurt too much to move them. My hips felt like someone was drilling right into the joints. I'm a runner so my sports medicine doc did xrays to make sure I hadn't injured myself. Nope, nothing wrong. My NP ran blood tests and found I was very low in Vit D. She prescribed 2000 mg/day. After 30 days, it dawned on me, wow, the pain was just - gone! If you live in the north, it can be especially difficult to get sufficient Vit D from sunshine. The sun is really only strong enough during 3 months of summer. Couple that with working in an office during the day and it gets even harder.
