Hi ,

I'm so glad that Elavil works for you. I weened myself off of it (with

doctor approval) for many reasons. The biggest reason was that it was

affecting our marriage. The frustrations connected with this drug was

not tolerable for me. I couldn't get an orgasm no matter how hard we

tried or what we tried. I just couldn't let a little pill take away a

part of my life that was too important to me. Second, I started to gain

weight. What's up with that? Doc wants me to lose weight for my health

and give me a pill that makes me gain weight. I wasn't about to throw

all this money we've been paying for the gym and my therapies for

amitriptyline. For me... the price was just to high.

Coming off of amitriptyline was when I decided to attempt a drug free

life with Fibro. So now... that's gone... today the tylenol #3's are

been taken away. Now the only drugs left are Flexoril (a muscle

relaxer) and the Mavik (for kidney protection). These will be the last

2 to go and I know that I can get rid of both by losing the weight.

Ugggh... what a difficult task when you have pain. But being a

pig-headed mule that I am... I'm gonna do it. I just got to get my butt

back into the pool at the gym. Next week I go for my 3 month fit test

and I don't think much will have changed. But this is expected as my

main priority is to get my hip and left leg in working order through

therapy and then work on the exercise more. Stretching exercises are

all that I am allowed at the moment. Sooooo... soon... I will progress

to the next level. Keep your fingers crossed that I can meet this next

challenge :-)

Amitriplyne I do like. It helps me to rest easier...But am in a fight now to get

somemore... doctors... groan!!
