Bile duct strictures are often described as having a beaded or corkscrew

appearance, so yours sounds like the latter. Initially, the strictures are

limited to the common bile duct, but eventually involve the intrahepatic

ducts. The picture of mine looked corkscrewed and thready in spots, with

minimal intrahepatic duct involvement.

I take 2000 mg Ursodiol (I'm 185 lb). I also take milk thistle (3

capsules/day), along with a high potency multivitamin. With UC and PSC, I

don't absorb nutrients like I should and am usually borderline anemic.

I don't know if exercise elevates LFTs - I doubt it, but some of them bounce

around a lot from day to day (normally).

Pain is usually upper right quadrant (URQ). If you put your right hand on

the edge of your lower right rib cage, that's about the spot. Mine was

usually just beneath the sternum. In a severe cholangitis episode (fever,

chills, dark urine, light stools), the pain will radiate around to your

back. Pancreatitis is felt on the LRQ (and is excruciating).

Arne,

Via the ERCP last month they said I was mild to moderate on the bile duct

structure. The main duct to the liver looked like a curley fry (best analogy

I can think of).

Are you taking any medication for PSC?

Does exercise elevate LFTs'?

As PSC progresses what is the typically pain point (lower right? center?) or

is there one?
