Jury Duty

Hi,

Things must be different in the U.S than in Canada.

When we were on our own, Dick was summoned for jury duty but when he said he was self employed, and financially it would be a hardship, he didn't have to go. I think that is horrible unless they pay well for jury duty in the U.S. A month is a long time to go without a pay cheque.

Have a nice weekend.

Love, Auntie

, The only time I served was in Houston. On the day you go they

did have a time that you could speak to the judge and tell him why

this was hardship such as being self employed or illness. I should

think with either a note from the doctor or maybe information aout

PSC he could get out of it. I know for a fact they let a lady off

that had been sitting by me who had a vacation planned and payed

for. Let us know how it goes!

,

Just tell to pretend to fall asleep, which may not be difficult, and

when they confront him, he should say he filled out the portion about

medical illness and describe the disease. Or he can always claim bias

with regards to what the case is about. Here they give you an overview of

the case and then ask questions about your feelings or possible past

experiences. The one I was in was about a possible illegal search and

seizure of a car that turned up drugs. Claim was no probable cause. A few

said the despised cops - " you may go " and a few other said drug use -

marijuana - should be legalized. " Thank you, you may go. " Something to

keep in mind.
