Guest guest Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I know some people have stomach problems with the Armour. I did when I tried it, but I've been on thyroid-s for well over a year with no issues. I would be concerned if you got that bloated. That's your body really reacting. Maybe you are one of the ones that would do better on Synthroid and T3 if you have such a reaction to cow? ??? SAMMIE Robin Hill-Young wrote: Now that I'm back on prednisone and NOT prednisolone my stomach is killing me. I get this stomach ache that is an amazing amount of air that builds up in my stomach until I look about 6 months pregnant. Usually I get this type of stomach whenever i have cows milk. But now it seems to happen almost everytime I take prednisone. I'm not really careful about whether I take pred on a full or empty stomach. However the stomach ache doesn't come until about 6 or more hours after taking my last pred dose (I take 2 doses each day - 7am = 5mg + noon = 2.5mg). So I'm not completely sure the stomach ache is actually coming from the pred. i get the stomach ache most days but not every day. Does it seem possible that the stomach ache is actually coming from my thyroid. Prednisone actually works for me so I wonder if that leaves my adrenals in good working condition and gives my thyroid more time to act up (my armour is still too low). Does that make sense. Do any of you have stomach problems from pred? Is so, any solutions? Robin --------------------------------- Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr. We'll help. Yahoo! Small Business. Quote
Guest guest Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I don't know Robin, but I get the SAME thing. I haven't been able to pinpoint what triggers it, except for an empty stomach. If I'm late with dinner, invariably I feel my stomach start to blow up like a balloon, I can literally feel it expanding, to the point where I have to change clothes because my clothes begin to bind me terribly (I usually put on an old nightgown), even my underwear start to cut into my stomach. Usually once I eat, it gets worse, and I need to lie down on my stomach for a few hours, and then it goes away. I have had this for about 20 years, and have never been able to figure out what causes it. Guest guest Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Have you tried Thyroid-S? I am supposedly allergic to milk and lamb, so I worried my reaction was an allergic reaction to Armour. Apparantly not if I can handle the Thyroid-S. And another good thing about Thyroid-S is that it doesn't have that toxic yucky smell that Armour does. Blah. I dont know how peeps take that sublingually. Another thing I always wondered if caused stomach issues was the high doses of Vitamin C........... Guest guest Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Not me, I've had this problem since long before I was even diagnosed hypo, so it sure isn't the Armour. There is no milk nor lamb in Armour, it is porcine thyroids, not ovine. Guest guest Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 ---Hi, I've had this on and off for years too - exactly as describes. I'm dammed if I don't eat and dammed if I do! Guest guest Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 & , is there any chance either of you have lactose intolerance? I'm also curious, how optimal you are with Armour . With I think it's clear you are as bad off as me. I asked today at the pharmacy if I could have another brand of prednisone without lactose. ALL brands of prednisone here in Germany have lactose in them. I just checked the contents of my HC. It too has lactose. Yet with HC I didn't have the stomach problems - the HC didn't help my adrenals either. Because of that I really think that it's my thyroid and since pred is helping my adrenals, finally, my hypoT symptoms are more obvious. I know, that probably only makes sense to me...lol!!!!!! Quote
Guest guest Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Yes, definately, that is why laying down on my stomach helps. Of course you can only do this in the privacy of your own home. I have been so bad in the past, as to leave a restaurant, and I even left a rock concert once, to go back to the parking lot and lay down in the car on my stomach, the pain was so bad. That was back in my 20's when I was just a young, partying thang. I haven't found any correlation to milk products for myself. I do sometimes get milk issues, if I eat a lot of ice cream, or take a whey protein drink, the gas is UNBELIEVABLE, and can put any man to shame. But it has no problem " releasing " <wink, wink>, so this belly distention thing is different. I should really start journaling everything.......... that means I need to be disciplined, and remember to do it, and to do that, I think I need to be less hypo <sigh> Best, Handcrafted Jewelry ~ http://www.ChestnutHillDesigns.com Curly Horse Rescue ~ http://www.CurlyRescue.com ~If you can stay calm, while all around you is chaos...then you probably haven't completely understood the situation.~ ~Flashlights are tubular metal containers for the purpose of storing dead batteries.~ > Oh , you just described my 100%. Guest guest Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 IM SORRY!! hee-hee... But speaking of bringing problems back, now every month the day before my period I get the world's worst fatigue. The Isocort, then the HC is somehow responsible for this because since I added progesterone cream over a year ago, my PMS was fairly mild. But now, I am in such agony on those days, that I've questioned just stopping the HC altogether. Why would it make it worse the day before starting my period? So wierd. Guest guest Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 >>Why would it make it worse the day before starting my period? Guest guest Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 --- Hi Robin No I don't have lactose problems and there really seems to be no rhyme or reason to my stomach bloating. But then there never is much rhyme or reason to anything with hypo is there?
