I have it too, and have stories like yours of my own health and that of my family's. Part of the problem, I beleive, is that we as a society have thought about doctors as something other than regular people. They are the savers of life, they have incredible power over us, they are supposed to be the best, the smartest of us all. Yet, they are just plain people. If you lined up all accountants, there would be the smart ones, the stars, and most would be your average guy, some would be idiots. Why, (and I am asking MYSELF this question as I ask it) Why do we think of them as so extra special? THat we expect most or all of them to be completely competant at all times when the rest of society is certainly not? I have lost the reverancy and respect I once had for doctors. They are just plain people who I go to for help, but do not trust them implicitly anymore. I know now I can research right here at home, and become aware of the knowledge and information that once helped make these people so special, and now I trust MYSELF, and I don't say " whatever you think is best, doctor " (By the way, my exact words for accepting to do the LEEP procedure which started ALL of this for me) I am counting on myself now. Ofcourse YOU will need to trust a surgeon for your knee, you cannot do that yourself. Good luck. Find a star.
