Thanks everyone for your comments.

This may be a fluke, and if so, I'll take it, but we have had two great days.

The other night I made a chart of expectations... the usual wake up, get

dressed, etc. in addition to " be kind " after wake up and the rest of things

expected, chores, etc. That night before bed we discussed that these are things

that need to be done and behaviors we expect. I told him if these were all

accomplished, that we could go out to breakfast on Friday mornings.

Yesterday happened to be my husband and my anniversary. In the morning when I

went into my son's room, he said " happy anniversary!!! " and was quite happy and

sweet. Last night we went out to dinner and he said very kind things " there's

no mom better than you " , etc. At night we put magnets on his chart...

This morning I woke him, happy again... he " hatched " out of his bed (like an

egg), and when I said ok, let's go eat, he said " after I make my bed " ...

Can it be so simple that he just needed the direction/guidance? I am just

amazed that this chart and explaining our expectations has worked so positively.

As I said, might just be a fluke, but I will take it!!!

enjoy!!! our children feel more in control when we do, by making the chart you felt like you were "doing something" to gain control and in turn your son could too. I see this all the time with me and my child. when I finally get it together to "reel in the behavior" and set those firm limits, all is well, not saying there isn't a biological underlying reason but the behavior interventions help when their body is feeling out of control.

Happy Anniversary!!!
