On all the Ultras that I have used you place the blood at the end of the strip same as FastTake. I do not like the Ultra because it is too fast. The Fast Take is just right at 15 seconds. That gives you 10 seconds to blot the blood and stop the flow on your finger tip and 5 seconds to prepare to record your reading. Also in my testing the Ultra was not as repeatable as the FastTake. But it is not a whole lot different from my Fast Take soooooo... I kind of wish I hadn't spend the money. It does work faster ... 5 seconds instead of 15. I think putting the blood sample on the strip is just a little ... just a tad... more difficult because you put it on the side, not the top of the strip. I have not tried pricking my arm yet. I will have to see how that works. But if I am reading correctly the arm reading is not the same and I would rather stick to fingertips. It did come with a really nice lancing device.
