Guest guest
Antibiotics will make aspergillus worse. What meds were you given? I have been on Vfend in the past and Itraconozole. How are you doing now? Barb -------- They took 3 sputum cultures on 3 different days when I was in the hospital....the first three were normal, however the 3rd was positive for aspergillus. I feel we need to have more than one culture when we have an infection. You are right when you state that they just give us an antibiotic which will not eradicate mold, fungus or yeast...the real culprit! EILEEN i have had my doc do a sputum culture for aspterigullus which i ended up having.. my emphysema patients,...in better breathers..the thing is , they don't do enough sputum cultures, and hand them an antibiotic.. i have lost 3 emphysema patients in the last year.. Guest guest
Hi Barb, I was on Sporanox for a few weeks until Pfizer approved my financials for assistance since I am (now) low income and my Humana Gold copay is $2,000.00. I am on a 4 month treatment program of VFend, which I have taken with great success in the past. It is superior to the Sporanox (Itraconozole). Guest guest
I agree. Vfend is far more superior. I was on it for over a year. It has its side effects, but I got used to them. I would rather take a pill on an empty stomach, than one that needs you to have a full meal and drink Coke Classic. I would hope that if I have a severe flare up, I could go back on Vfend. I am controlled right now. Barb Hi Barb, I was on Sporanox for a few weeks until Pfizer approved my financials for assistance since I am (now) low income and my Humana Gold copay is $2,000.00.
