Guest guest
Hello friends, Well, I'm in trouble now. I use the Duregesic Patch for my main pain control with Lortab 10 as breakthru pain meds. As some of you might remember I found a doctor that will perscribe my meds for me and when we get insurance (we're on the cobra policy from my old job right now) I will go to a pain doctor. Anyway, I'm down 2 patches this month. One patch came off because I forgot to put an overlay on it, and the other patch I accidentally cut when taking it out of the packet. So I called my doctor to get a new script and they called back saying it was too early. I explained the situation and they basically said too bad. So now as of Saturday I will go into withdrawals. My old pm doctor understood that sometimes these things happen and never had a problem doing the script early. This doctor doesn't understand. The nurse said "It's a narcotic and we won't refill it early". I was afraid of this happening. I'm in a flare right now and that makes everything worse. So that's my tale of woe...... Guest guest
OMG Kathleen. I can't believe that they are doing that to you. It seems like they could have you bring the two in that were messed up to verify your story and then help you. To just put you in withdrawal like that is unethical and very dangerous. Excuse my french, but damn doctors. Call back and ask him to just give you a script for two to get you through so you don't have withdrawal. If the nurse refuses ask to speak to the office manager or the doctor. Keep us updated. hugs, Sundra
Guest guest
Hi there, Good news. I took the proverbial bull by the horns and got on the phone yesterday. First I called my old doctor in California. I forgot that they always close the office for this week. Then I called my doctors office here. My regular doctor is out until Tuesday, but the other doctor that I see was there. He was the doctor in the ER when I was admitted for pnenoumnia a few weeks ago and he is a pulmonary specialist, so I see him also. I asked his nurse for him to call me and explained the whole thing again. She called me back and said he would give me 3 patches and to come in next week and see my regular doctor. Thank goodness this man has a heart! I was really concerned about going thru withdrawals. Plus we have appointments to go looking for a house to buy. The two things would not mix! Anyway I may just be projecting problems but I'm concerned that they will stop writing my scripts for pain now. I'm still going to ask my old doctor's office to call my new doctor just so they know I'm on the up and up. This has happened to me before where I've been down a patch or two. If a doctor is not familiar with this medication they might think the worst. Anyway sorry to go on and on. The main thing I wanted to say is I'm going to be ok. Thank you to those of you who wrote to me with suggestions. I appreciate it, and hope I won't ever have to use the suggestions, but they are a help. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen! I'm so glad to see you posting again. First of all... I did not realize a duregesic was a narcotic. I'm going to have to google that one unless some kind soul can email me at home (mailto:crimson_hugs35@...) and tell me what it is. I thought it was a typical pain patch like... I don't know, not like salonpas, but something stronger. Secondly, I feel your pain (no pun intended) when it comes to getting early refills. For example, they changed my percocet from 2 to 3 a day, yet my insurance refused to fill the prescription because I " should have some left " . Well how can I have some left if they changed the darned amount halfway through the bottle? So I had to pay out of pocket (thank god percocet is cheap, 20 bucks for 90) and will write another letter of complaint to my insurance. That's unfortunately the only advice I can offer... is to take it to a pharmacy you don't use often, who would not have your insurance info, and get it filled out of pocket... it sucks, but what else can we do wtih " CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE " ... god forbid we're lying and we sell them. *grrrr* Let us know what happens hon... Love to you and happy new year Dawn ++++++++++ site mod > Hello friends, > > Well, I'm in trouble now.
