I know this is a hot topic for a lot of us because we definetly deserve more than what we are paid. Here is a little about our dispatch center and services that we give.>> -----------------------<major snip>-------------------------------- Info on my agency (PD Rolling Meadows IL (Chicago's North Shore)) POPULATION: 25,000 DISPATCH: Single Agency - Police/Fire/EMS/EMD DISPATCHERS: 10 working 2 shifts 0700-1900 & 1900-0700 (4 12 hour shifts, 4 off - shifts established for 1 year) Calls/Yr: 22,000 Police, 4000 Fire/EMS. Telephone Calls Yr: 80-100k est. MINIMUM COMM STAFFING: 2 days/2 nights POLICE INFO: 58 sworn, operating on 3 shifts FIRE: 2 STATIONS IN NETWORK OF 36 MINIMUM PATROL STAFFING: (13 per shift)5 patrol on days/6 evenings/4 mids 9-1-1 TRUNKS: 5 wireline/3 wireless OTHER PHONES: Non-emergency lines 10 CURRENT JOB DUTIES: Primary PSAP for police, fire/EMS, EMD, call-taker/dispatcher combined function, data entry & records functions, minor report writing, CAD updates, jail monitoring, matron (females), public education, various T/C's assigned to liasion functions. PAY RANGE: START: $34,300 to $46,900 yr (FY2002) Plus built in overtime averaging $1500-2000. UNION: No. HEALTH INSURANCE: Blue Cross of Illinois - $8.00 to $50.00. DENTAL INSURANCE: $25/mo. family (HMO-type plan); more for Out of Network plan PENSION: 4.5% pre-tax (matched by the Village at 7.5%) to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (www.IMRF.org) and Social Security. Optional www.pepsico.com or www.imrf.com. Vacation: 1-5 yrs: 80 hrs (2 weeks); 6-10 yrs: 120 hrs (3 weeks); 11-15 yrs:160 hrs (4 weeks); 20-23 yrs: 186 hrs (23 days). Holidays: 96 hrs yr.
