LOL!! The only thing in my cupboards is Fruit Loops, Cheerios

(Frosted), a can of chili and a LOT of dog food (not for me). Once a

year I turn on the stove to make sure it still works. Oh yeah, and

Cokes. :-)

Ken

> OH NO not a dietician. They want you to clean your cupboard out.

There goes the supply of pop-tarts. A lady my daughter works with

who is diabetic ended up in the hospital with ketosis and the

dietician sent her family home with orders to empty out the

cupboards. It took them a whole day to clean out all the NO-NO

foods so the lady could be sent home. They have moved in with her

to keep her on program. Who out there wants to volunteer to move in

with Ken and keep him out of the pop-tarts and coke?

Ken,

Holy cow. 3 infections AND awfully high bg's. You must've been

feeling like crap! You're on the mend, tho. You're doing a good job

keeping your bg's down there. Only thing I could say you're

doing 'wrong' is eating Fruit Loops for dinner. :)

So Ken, what do you eat? Are able to eat that stuff and keep your bgs in

the 70-110 range?

From the day I was diagnosed I've been working with a diabetic dietician in

addition to my doctor

to keep my blood glucose in the normal range. Fruit Loops and Frosted Cheerios

would

definitely raise my bgs.

Thanks Lynn,

Dinner of champions. I'm so tired when I get home I can just stuff

the cereal in my mouth and get on with my night. BG at bedtime last

night 112.

More like 110 to 130 range. I'm trying to find alternatives but

broccoli is out. I walk a lot in downtown Houston. I know this has

to change but not just yet.

I really felt bad. I could walk about 3 feet when waves of pain and

nausea would sweep over me. Not sure how much was infection and how

much was diabetes. I was a mess. Got 2 and a half weeks off gfrom the

unholy place..er..work though.

I eat cereal for breakfast and dinner most days. Lunch is downtown so

it's usually Tacos or a sandwich of some kind. Can't afford a

dietician. I'm trying to find out what I'm supposed to eat.

Phyllis,

I STILL don't understand what Neuropathy is. I'm just dense I guess.

Nothing wrong with cottage cheese. My great aunt lived to be 104+ on a diet of

cottage cheese, toast, tea, chicken, and lots of " fresh veggies " . Ops there I

go using bad words again. Ken doesn't know what veggies are!

Ken,

That's terrible. Your doctor should have sent you to a Diabetes Workshop

and

an appointment with a dietician. You need to call his office and see if

they

can refer you to one. I went and enjoyed it. It was very helpful.

I just got the pills and bought the meter. Wouldn't the person at

Taco Bell be considered a dietician?

Ken,

If you have insurance, these visits SHOULD be covered by your insurance plan.

You might want to check with them and see.

Ken,

It was hard for me to accept too. When I was first diagnosed, there were

times when I would just break down crying. I still find it hard to say that

I have diabetes. I just say something like I'm watching my blood sugar

levels. People know what I mean.
