Guest guest
Welcome back Ken Phyllis Howdy! I'm new in these parts Hi Y'all! The Best Buy pancreas didn't work out and I find myself a diabetic again (besides, I have all of those " I'm a diabetic, kiss me " T-Shirts). I never missed a bunch of people in a forum before and since I found a box of smore Pop-Tarts in the pantry I need somebody to talk me out of eating them. I also need another good recipe for Broccolli Beer. The problem with posting from work is that I quit the forum while under a high pressure situation there. They also switched my hours so that I have to get up at 4 AM now. I didn't know that there was a 4 O'clock in the morning just like in the afternoon but I had heard rumors. Glad to be back. BTW, I hit 110 the other morning after breakfast. 131 this morning. Dammed Best Buy pancreas! :-) Ken (The original, not the fiber clone) To leave this list please go to diabetes-unsubscribe Hope you come back soon! Guest guest
Absolutely GREAT seeing you back, Ken ! :-) Yes, I also found that there is a 3 in the morning, just like in the afternoon. I know because 3 AM is the time I've *finally* gotten to bed and sleep for three nights in a row .... bleah. I'm not sure whether sugar levels etc. are to blame for a nasty bout with insomnia I've been having .... - Dave Gates
Guest guest
Hi Sheri! You scared me so much I dropped a Pop-Tart and one of the dogs got it. Now she wants to test her BG. :-) Like those strips are free. Where did you get that name " Tangena Flare " ? I like it. Sounds like either a sexy female singer or an exotic tropical fruit drink with an umbrella in it. :-) Ooh, Enterprise is almost on! Yes, I'm a 49 year old Trekker. In the future they will probably give you a pill for diabetes aand we can eat anything we want. I wonder if Pop-Tarts will still be around? :-) Ken > KEN...STEP AWAY FROM THE SMORE POP-TARTS...I REPEAT...STEP AWAY...FROM THE SMORE POP-TARTS. > > Good to have you back man! > Sheri > > > > > Howdy! Guest guest
A 3 AM too. Pshaw!! Funny, I've been having trouble getting to sleep for about a month also. It helps me to remember that by just lying there you get 70% of the rest that you would get if you were sleeping. I have more trivia if you need it. I got a whole 2 hours sleep Sunday night. Sharp as a 6 month old lancing device the next day. Don't you love that name? " Lancing Device " . I guess the name " Hole Puncher " was taken. Thank God my Freestyle " Lancing Device " doesn't even hurt. Guest guest
I'm sorry Ken, I've been so busy keeping the old man alive I hardly even missed you. Getting up at 4am might be tough but what will be tougher is the dts you will get from missing prime time tv cause you will probably have to tuck yourself in by 8pm. Save the pop-tarts for the bedtime snack. If they still have L-tryptophan in them they will knock you out quickly. Guest guest
HI Ken...I wrote a reply to your note...but I am reluctant to send it due to its lack of diabetic content...so I'll just save it for now.:0) Sheri Howdy! Guest guest
LOL!! I can't tuck in at 8 PM. I can't!! *sob*. I've been getting by on 5 hours of sleep for quite a while. I wonder what 4 hours will do? Ken > I'm sorry Ken, I've been so busy keeping the old man alive I hardly even missed you. Guest guest
Thanks, Lynn. I'm posting some mysterious readings and would like your opinion. Ken > > Hi Y'all! Guest guest
Lynn, Maybe we should just average our two readings and we'll come out fine. 126 apiece. :-) Ken > > Thanks, Lynn. Guest guest
Ken, Well, well, well.....what an awesome idea! Let's do that every day and my A1C will be at 6 in NO time! Guest guest
I just gotta get one of those A1C things. I feel like I have no prestige without one. > > Lynn, > > Maybe we should just average our two readings and we'll come out > > fine. 126 apiece. :-) > > > > Ken
Guest guest
Carolyn, I can sleep about 30 minutes on the bus to and from work. It helps. No dietary advice, nothing Ken, That's terrible. Your doctor should have sent you to a Diabetes Workshop and an appointment with a dietician. You need to call his office and see if they can refer you to one. I went and enjoyed it. It was very helpful. Sheila
Guest guest
Ken, You're on meds and you haven't had an A1C? How did your doctor diagnose you? Just by a fasting glucose reading? Guest guest
Lynn, I had 3 major infections and blood poisoning and was not healing so they sent me down the hall to the lab and they picked my finger. My reading was 547. He put me on Glucotrol. In a week I was down to 150. He added Metformin (SP?) and I've been pretty steady in the 110 to 140 range. Everything I've learned has been on the web and from you people and a few booklets. No dietary advice, nothing. I'm doing okay though. I think. Ken > > I just gotta get one of those A1C things. They give a lot of handouts and I also got a notebook with information about diabetes when I saw the nurse and dietician. These were separate from the Workshop itself. Guest guest
OH NO not a dietician. They want you to clean your cupboard out. There goes the supply of pop-tarts. A lady my daughter works with who is diabetic ended up in the hospital with ketosis and the dietician sent her family home with orders to empty out the cupboards. It took them a whole day to clean out all the NO-NO foods so the lady could be sent home. They have moved in with her to keep her on program. Who out there wants to volunteer to move in with Ken and keep him out of the pop-tarts and coke? Carolyn Type 2, Actos & Insulin
