Guest guest Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Sharon, I do. I don't have a dx though. I get it in different spots and it comes and goes. I have a spot on my upper back on the left side near my shoulder blade. It's grapefruit sz. Sometimes my feet burn, or my left arm. I have 2 different distinct burning sensations. One is where, it feels like the skin is on fire and burning. The other is a deep muscle burn, like I've overworked a muscle. Kwim? For instance, a few months ago, a muscle in my arm kept tightening painfully, then relaxing over and over. It lasted a couple hours. The next day the muscle burned so badly, deep down. I haven't had as much burning lately. Right now, my numbness/ tingling, vibration type sx's are back. My bladder is acting up, and my fatigue is horrible. Where is your burning pain? Can you describe it? Trista Who has burning pain? Just wondering who has burning pain and where is it on your body? Guest guest Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Trista: That's odd because I also have an area of burning pain near my right shoulder blade that sometimes radiates to my whole shoulder and down my arm toward my elbow. It burns deep inside. There is a lot of pain in that area too. Challis has the same thing I think. I do have Fibromyalgia and have a major trigger point under my shoulder blade so I always figured the pain was from that. Both of my legs have a deep burning pain. That's the real problem for me right now. Both of my legs have the deep burn and pretty severe pain. At times the skin feels like it would be fire hot to the touch but it's not, except over my knees. In fact sometimes the skin is cold or cool to the touch where the skin on the rest of my body is warm. Also my lower abdomen burns all across from side to side. That burn is more of a skin burn and is milder than the burn in my legs. My legs are worse at night and I do have nocturnal spasms along with it. I saw the neuro last Thursday and they said that pain isn't from MS because it's symmetrical. They said it's Peripheral Neuropathy. I'm scheduled for an EMG in a few weeks to try to find out more about it. I'm hoping there's some kind of treatment for it What meds do you take Trista? What kind of bladder problems are you having? I also have the vibration/quivering feeling but I forgot to mention it to the neuro. And I even took a list--just forgot to put it on the list. Sharon Who has burning pain? Guest guest Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Sharon, I take Zoloft, for anxiety/depression, Vicodin when needed, Elavil at night for pain and to help me sleep. I started taking a low dose of Ritalin for fatigue a couple weeks ago, but it doesn't really do much. I take Ditropan at night for bladder. I go back to my primary Aug 1st. I'm asking for more Ditropan, (as it was only a trial) possibly neurontin for the bladder/nerve problems, and something for fatigue. My bladder problems come and go. I will have trouble with it for days, weeks or months, then it's gone again. I ache like my bladder has been full a long time. I have extreme urgency, but then only pass a small amt. I feel like I can never fully empty my bladder. And it spasms. I can't tell you the amt. of times I've gone to the Dr. thinking I had a UTI, but didn't. I went a couple weeks ago and he said it was probably neurogenic. (wasn't my primary) So, he said to try the Ditropan first, then maybe Neurontin would help. The Elavil has been great for pain, but sometimes I hurt. Well, most days. Maybe I need to go up on the dose. The first 3 months I was on it, I felt great, then the pain started creeping back. My shoulder and back feel exactly how you described. In fact my whole left arm is hurting right now. My skin is also sometimes cool to the touch in spots and warm in others. My DH has been dx'd with peripheral neuropathy from diabetes, but now they are questioning that and wondering about MS. We share a lot of sx's, and my mom does too. What are the chances of all of us having the same sx's??? I wonder about an environmental factor or trigger. I took a list of Sx's to the only neuro I've ever seen back in May. Know what he said? The genius says, "When you hand a list of sx's to a Dr. and it's more than 3 sx's long, it's confusing". What the? I figured, the more info the better. (rolling my eyes) I am done trying to get a dx. I am too sick of everyone suggesting it's a "psych problem". I'm a freaking psych nurse, but I don't dare tell them that. And I HATE going to the Dr. I am not attention seeking or drug seeking, but how do you convince them? I've decided just to tell my primary that I just want to treat my sx's, because I'm sick of this already. I know how Challis feels. The neuro also said he could order an MRI of the spine, but it would probably be a waste of time. Grrrrr. I'm done. I guess I needed to vent this morning. lol. Are you already taking neurontin? That's what DH takes, along with Norco for pain. Trista Who has burning pain? Just wondering who has burning pain and where is it on your body? Guest guest Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Trista, I also have a lot of bladder issues. Have you ever tried Urimax? It helps me with the spasms. I sometimes feel like I have a horrible UTI and the tests all come back negative. My urologist has tried on different meds but Urimax works best for me. I only stay on it for a few days until the symptoms ease up. I have something called IC—interstitial cystitis. It accompanies MS frequently. The bladder lining gets very irritated. I have found the best thing for my bladder is –no caffeine or carbonated drinks. I also stay away from citrus and all tomato products. Sounds like you need to try a different Dr. Is there another neuro you can try? Guest guest Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Connie, I'll ask him about that. Unfortunately I am limited to specialists I can see in my area. I've decided nothing short of a huge sx, like losing use of my legs or something, will make anyone pay attention. I love coffee and iced tea. I really don't want to give up my iced tea. I may have to give it a shot though. Thanks for the info on the med. I will look into it. Take care, Trista Who has burning pain? Just wondering who has burning pain and where is it on your body? Guest guest Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 I sometimes get it on my right shoulder/arm. Since starting LDN I don't get it as much or as bad. Used to be that I was so messed up that I couldn't tell hot from cold! Guest guest Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 I get what feels like a sunburn sensation across the upper part of my back. And sometimes on my arms and feet. Like you Akiba, it really messes us the hot/cold sensory. I never knew that cool (not cold) could be painful. But, when this occurs, even touching something cool can really be aggravating. And if you're not careful, you can give yourself a nasty burn if you touch something hotter than you think it is. GBU...Valene -- Who has burning pain? Guest guest Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Same here. They have me on Cymbalta for it but I also have days where it seems like everything is dying down then wham I'll have a couple of bad days...having to cath everytime I go, falling, my right leg dragging. I had something wierd the other night. I had such an intense muscle spasm, my left foot drew up with my twos pointed up, intense pain, and I couldn't straighten out my foot and my calf was tight. Is this what they call spascity? 'Trista wrote: Sharon, I do. I don't have a dx though. I get it in different spots and it comes and goes.
