Guest guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Hello I believe that if I follow the advise and direction of this group I can finally get off antidepressants after 11 years. I stopped taking 5htp 8 days ago and am experiencing bouts of extreme irritablity and some mild depression. Started taking 5htp 1 year ago at 100 mg. per day, was on 200 mg for 6 months and 400 mg for the past month. Does a person need to slowly reduce from 5htp, do I need to stabalize now before reducing antideprssant by 10% or 5% ? I'm taking 150 mg. effexor at bedtime for the past 7 months. Before that I was taking 450 mg Wellbutrin and 60 mg. Remeron for 1 year and before that it was various antidepressants over a total of 11 years, Prozac, zolft, effexor, effexor and wellbutrin. Last year after cutting back slowly ( what I thought at the time was slowly ) from the 450 mg. Wellbutrin and 60 mg. Remoron I became extremely depressed and felt suicidal. After discovering your site I now realize what I was experiencing was discontinuation syndrome. My diet is Wheat free, gluten free. I eat chicken, turkey, brown rice bread, brown rice pasta, potatoes, fresh veggies, fresh salads, greens +, clean water, green tea, oat cerial, brown rice milk. I practice Bikram yoga. I take multi vitamin and mineral, 4000 mg. per day fish oil ( omega joy ), ginsing, Rodiola 400 mg. ( should I continue with Rodiola ? ) Magnesium 400 mg. at bedtime. Thank you for your time, after 11 years I'm finally in the right place and listening to the right people. Cory Quote
