I have learned that whenever someone complains about something in my home... I reply... "If you don't like the way my home looks, you are cordially invited to come over and clean it." There hasn't been any complaints since my last comment. In front of my mother... I turned to hubby and said to him "Guess what dear? Mom hates how messy my house is, so she's going to volunteer to come over every week and clean it to her specifications as I would never be able to do as good of a job as she can... or she'll stop complaining." Mom is now very happy with how my place looks as she knows I'll ask her to come over and do it... hehehehehe. You gotta turn it on to them. I learned this from a friend who's dad hated the home she bought. So when he came to visit, she introduced her dad to the neighbors and proudly announced that Dad hates this house and is going to put his money into it to fix it up to his standards. He never complained again. I say.. .put up or shut up...
