Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I got this from a member on the Senior Golden Retrievers mailing list and thought it was so cute and touching, I wanted to share it with any fellow dog lovers here. Enjoy and passing tissues! tears of joy hugs, Norah (sniffle sniffle) -- Norah Bleazard - Burlington, Ontario Canada www.bleazard.net ~ www.janorlites.com E-MAIL= norah.fibroyahoo@... She came into rescue, a victim of a puppy-mill. Please take a moment during the holiday season to think of these dogs imprisoned in puppy-mills. Lady is one of the lucky ones. Kougher/Keystone Golden Retriever Rescue Inc. " Dear KGRR, Now that the Christmas season is over, I wanted to send you a little " Thank You " note. I was adopted by my Mommy and Daddy in July. I was shy and afraid of what my future home and parents were going to be like. I took to my new home very quickly. My new parents hug me and kiss me all the time--maybe it's my red eyelashes or sad brown eyes. They take me just about everywhere they go. I even got to swim and play at the lake a few times this summer. Playing with a dirty tennis ball is just a blast! For some reason I just can't get use to the new ones. It wasn't too long after my adoption when I just wasn't feeling too well. I stopped eating and started going to the potty a lot. I think my Mommy and Daddy were concerned too. They took me to see my Veterinarian. My Vet and his assistants treated me well and took some tests of my belly. I don't understand it, but they said I have cancer. It must be something bad because my Mommy and Daddy were very upset with the news. I got some extra hugs and kisses after that too. I've been going for chemotherapy treatments for a few months now. I'm not sure what " chemo treatments " are other than the doctor takes blood from me and gives me a shot of some awful stuff. He even had to shave my paws. Mommy calls me " Patches " from time to time. Usually within a day or two of the shot, my tummy doesn't feel too good. I even had to eat junk food to gain some weight. I had pancakes, pasta and even jelly bread. I get extra treats when they try to hide my pills every morning. I guess I'm doing pretty well now. I've gained all my lost weight back, and the doctor said I'm in remission. That is the main reason I'm writing this letter. If it wouldn't have been for Keystone GR Rescue, my Mommy and my Daddy I would have never made it to Christmas this year. If I wouldn't have taken the awful chemo shots, the bad cancer would have killed me. Christmas was a fun day and one I'll always remember. I even got to open presents from my Grandma and Grandpa. I try to forget how my life was before I was adopted. Every once in a while I catch myself having nightmares, but then I just think of all the wonderful times I've had playing ball and going for walks. I've had a wonderful life these past few months, but I know that my friends at the puppy-mill aren't as lucky as I am. " Thank you " for giving me the opportunity to have the best Christmas I ever had. " Sincerely, " Lady "

Guest guest
Awww sorry that I made you cry Marie... I'm involved in rescue as well... all 5 of our cats are rescues and so is our gorgeous golden retriever Dakota. One cat came from Best Friends animal sanctuary in Utah, another from the local pound, the twins we rescued off of a highway at night (gorgeous twin kittens), and the other was supposed to be a foster to try to make him adoptable, but we fell in love with him and kept him. So now... I'm not allowed to do rescue anymore as we've run out of room in our apartment... LOL. If I had the space and the health.. I'd have my own rescue shelter. I just love our babies. Here's a website with our critters :-) http://janor1.ath.cx/animals/zoo.htm enjoy :-) love and hugs, Norah -- Norah Bleazard - Burlington, Ontario Canada www.bleazard.net ~ www.janorlites.com E-MAIL= norah.fibroyahoo@... Guest guest
Norah: Thanks for the link I will check it out.. at one time I had rescued 35 animals all in a two week period.. I found each and everyone good loving home's I am very particular on who get's them. they must have a good yard. and it must be fenced un less of course they are out in the boonie's with no neighbor's. But I make sure they all get good loving home's.. and I will not let them come to me to get the animal I insist on them letting me bring it to them.. I have a female boxer and a white Female shepperd right now that I have been looking for homes for.. Love ya.. Gentle Caring Hug's Marie Marie A. Roomsburg P.O.
