Guest guest
Cool! Did you do acute care? I work at home now and it has been a real blessing. DonnaN OT/Medical Transcription/Donna N Donna, I was a medical transcriptionist also until 2001 when I got into an accident and had to stop working. Guest guest
Sundra, Until I got my trochanteric bursitis under control, I had gotten to where I couldn't sit for over 2 hours at a time. So my PT said it was a good thing I was coming home to work so I could take regular long breaks. It has really helped. When/if you get those problems settled, do check out some of the national companies. They might let you work PT so that you don't earn more than you are allowed to under SSDI. The company I work for doesn't make me sit for hours. I have 24 hours to get my work done, just whenever I feel like working. TTYL, Donna N RE: OT/Medical Transcription/Donna N I worked in a pain management clinic for two anesthesiologists. Kinda ironic huh? lol I would like to eventually be able to work from home, but until I get my spine problems and fibromyalgia more under control it isn't possible for me to sit that long. Right now I am on SSDI. Sundra
Guest guest
Perhaps we should go offline to talk about this. Write me at radmt@... and I will have to put you in my address book so I can read your email. Donna N RE: OT/Medical Transcription/Donna N There is only one glitch. I'm not certified. I'd need to go to school online first and get certified. I have checked Medquist out since they are a national company. I had worked for many years in secretarial/clerical work and then started working for these two doctors. One of the doctor's had made up templates for different procedures because they did surgical procedures in the office, so I learned as I went. I need a broader knowledge base. I know the pain management terminology for procedures as well as clinic visits inside and out, but need more than that. Are you certified? If so, did you attend a school onsite or online? Just curious. It was the most interesting job I ever had and loved it. When I got hurt I begged my bosses to let me transcribe from home. When I got behind if I took off or something then the office manager would let me bring my transcriber home and do the notes. I had all the templates set up on computer. The doctors refused to let me do it, thus I had to stop working altogether because I couldn't take that long sitting at once. Not only that, they had me at a nurse's station type setup and the doctor was sitting right beside me most of the time dictating that days notes. Talk about distracting and also with people talking and walking up and down the hall, grrr. hugs, Sundra 1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better.Have a nice day everyone.
